Wire end caps?

Are you guys familiar with the wire ends that some companies like fender crimp onto the end of ground wires they run to their shielded cavities? What the **** are they called???!!!! Been looking for ever. They basically crimp to the end of a wire & have a ring on the end that you screw down to the cavity. Thanks in advance!

The MIM basses I've opened had what is known as an extra grip or star, ring terminal.

I've noticed that too. Never understood why it would need to grip the bottom if its screwed down. Seems like it would only damage the shielding & defeat the purpose. Although! A customer brought me a newer mom jazz for a pup swap & they are even shielding them now & once they've been shielded they clear coat over it & they just scratch back the clear where those ring terminals are. On a side note that bass was super quiet before & after the swap. Double stacked bass lines are what went in there

If I had to venture a guess I'd say it was more for ease of production than anything else. Not to mention it would also act as a lock washer and grounding lug all rolled in to one.

The extra grip terminal is designed to grip the surface it is being screwed into. Typically when you start screwing down a normal terminal it will begin to rotate and stress you wire. Saves you from having to hold the terminal while tightening it.
