Wired my StingRay series/bridgecoil/parallel: Series has low output

Hello,

I got a EBMM StingRay in rough condition and wired it with a series/bridge coil/parallel switch since it already had an extra hole in the control plate. I used a Seymour Duncan Basslines pickup.

The parallel and bridge coil positions sound fine, but when I switch to the series position, the volume drops. It still sounds like series, I think. Open, bright, and trebly.

Is this normal, or did something go wrong with my wiring?

Yeah, something's not right - I've done alot of series/parallel wiring on Jazz's, and recently did some on both a Music Man SUB5 and SUB Sterling - in all cases, series operation was always louder than parallel...

On the Music Man humbuckers, series wiring ended up being:

black & green tied together, white to positive on the preamp, orange to negative on the preamp...

That was wiring on a stock MM pup - I don't know what the color codes on yours are...

I opened it up today. The red wire was unsoldered. :o

I ended up just taking the Basslines pickup off since I felt like fixing and installing the original pickup because the soldering iron was running.
