Wireless Rerun

Hey Bassists. Tripped over the cord and almost knocked over everything, etc. Problem is that I’m switching through 4 basses in two sets. I would like to have four transmitters and one base station. Anybody have this problem and solve it?

If you decide to go with four transmitters and one receiver, I suggest making sure that switching is silent. My wireless makes a little click when I turn the transmitter on. It's not very loud, but it is noticeable and would be perceived as amateurish.

When using a chord, I loop it through something that is relatively low and heavy, like a handle on the speaker cab or rolling rack. The idea is to keep any accidental tugs on the cord from dislodging a light amp over or damaging the connector on the end of the cord. I also loop the chord through my bass strap to provide a bit of strain relief on the instrument side.

Why not have one transmitter on a strap and 4 basses w/ straploks?
Or better still.. 2 basses?[/QUOTE
I am pretty much resigned to have a single transmitter in a pouch covered with Velcro and four straps on four guitars-each strap having a wide swath of Velcro on it. As to why 4? I will play 4 string basses, as opposed to 5s, every chance I can. Fretted ‘02 Precision, to a de-fretted ‘77 RD Artist, then ‘09 Carvin Icon 5s, and finally a ‘97 de-fretted Carvin 5. Cheers!

I personally like leaving the transmitter on the strap and on the bass. I have used up to 3 at a time. I will say it depends on what brand of wireless you use. With Sennheiser the on/off switch is inside so it is too time consuming to turn one off and the other on in the middle of a set. I have them in a neoprene pouch so that makes it even slower) If you have a toggle on/off on top of the transmitter it is much more practical. My old EV system was like that. Unfortunately it is also easy to accidently hit one to ON without meaning to, then wonder why the one you are holding (which is now also on) is either not making any sound or breaking up horribly.

I just picked up the Shure GLXD16 and loving it so far. No dropouts. It does support multiple transmitters if you've got cash to burn.

Before that I had a line6 G50 which was OK but it had more dropouts than I like. It was 6 years old, so it was time to upgrade I guess.

I had a similar experience as you. I upped my old system with a Line 6 and had dropouts constantly. Sweetwater returned it no problem and I got a Shure system.

I only have two basses and no giant pedal board. Just wireless to tuner pedal to Tech 21 pedal. When I want to mute to change basses or for break I engage my tuner pedal, easy peasy.

nah, you just keep the beltpack on your belt, along with a cable long enough that you can unplug it from the bass, shuck off the bass (strap and all), throw on the new bass (strap and all), then plug in. the trick is to actually hold the end of the cable in your plucking hand the whole time, that will automatically feed the cable through your strap like it's supposed to be done. with a little practice and stepping on your tuner pedal to mute you can change basses in the time it takes the guitar player to tune
