I just picked up the Line 6 G50 system, and I Love it!!! Great tone, I like it better than the Mogami cables I usually use.

I get about 6 hours on a set of alkaline AA's with my Line 6 G30. Really pleased with that unit. Because the frequency range it transmits is wider than what my gear will reproduce, I get a nice high end sparkle with it that isn't there with a cord.

Same here. +1 on the G30 or the others in the Line6 lineup.

I just purchased the Line 6 G55 unit. I've only used it twice so far, but I'm love with it. I absolutely cannot tell I'm not plugged in.

Line6 G50. Works great. The new G70 and G75 do a lot more, including DI out.

My wireless history (and why I moved on) is as follows. They're all digital.

X-Wire X905 - Great unit (took up too much rack space)
X2 XDR95 - Also great ( I hate 9v batteries as much as I hate 6 AAAA batteries wired in series and wrapped in a rectangular prism of metal.)
Line 6 G90 - Hurray for AA! (2.4GHz means less range than 900MHz X2, Didn't work all the time for the ~150ft of range I need)
Beyerdynamic TG1000 - 1000ft range, AA (I'm still using it but it's way expensive)

No. I use 5 strings exclusively and never noticed a difference plugged in or using G30/G90. (Or X2 for that matter)

I use an older Shure PGX system. Runs without problems, but sucks a little bit of volume.

I saw few current digital wireless systems have different dynamic range in the specs. I don't have a clue on what is low or not enough, high or just the required dynamic range for bass. Among others Audio-Technica System 10 has dynamic range of 109 dB. Line 6 has various types ranging from 117 dB to 120 dB. Shure GLXD also has 120 dB.

Can anybody be kind enough to share knowledge about the required dynamic range in the wireless system for bass ?

I've used a Line 6 G30 for the last 6 years and it has always functioned for me. For about 4 years we was doing 4-5 gigs a week at 2-3 hour sessions. As good a sound as any cable I ever used. You can get them for under 200 on the road. I've owned the Line 6 G90 at $500 and it wasn't any better honestly. If this one lays down on me I'll immediately buy another one.

I used to have a Line 6 G50. It was a fantastic sounding unit. No dropouts, tone stayed perfectly intact. The only reason I don't have it anymore, is because I wanted everything to be my rack, so I sold my G50 to my guitar player, who loves it, and bought a G90. I've A/B'ed wireless and decent cable, the difference is probably only discernible to someone trained to listen for it, and that person ain't me, or anyone I play for...

Shure GLX system. It's digital, the receiver can run on DC and live on my pedalboard where it's also the tuner, transmitter uses a rechargeable cell phone type battery. They put all the good stuff in one place, I reckon.

I use the Shure GLXD-14 and love it.

I have about 15 gigs with it, and countless rehearsals. I don't use a pedal board, so I like the station with the built in re-charging port. I have a spare battery; not that I ever needed it. One charge lasts ~17hrs; and the battery timer is very accurate. I keep my components in a small protected container (pencil box from staples; ~$1.50 and found a smaller power supply). The set up is supper quick to get going, and the convenience of going wireless is definitely worth carrying a small box around in my amp bag.

Two other guitarist in my band saw my rig and they purchased Shure GLXD systems too (one 14, and the other 16 systems). We have never had any drop outs or any frequency problems: just plug in and go.

(Can you tell that I REALLY like my set up?)

Two things to note:

1. It took me a while to get the gain setting set up for each of my heads. I own 3 different heads, and each head likes a different amount of gain.
2. Buy spare cables. The one that comes with the 14 is 'in-expensive'. My stock cable broke a solder during a rehearsal, while I had it a part, I figured out that I could use nicer components. Now I make my own with Neutrik 90 degree plugs and Canare cables. I keep spares in all my gig bags, and gave a couple of spares to my band mates.

It uses standard 1/4" instrument cable from the receiver to amp.

The cable from the guitar to transmitter is a 1/4" instrument and a mini 4 prong jack that goes into the transmitter pack.

Since the transmitter jack is so small, you have to use a thinner instrument cable.

Shure and Line6 utilize a TA4F connector for those that want to build their own. Shure Utilizes a threaded collar for locking purposes

Any thoughts on the Line6 50 vs. the 70?
I like the more "heavy duty" pedal and transmitter aspects of the 70 - tho don't need a DI with my Reddi.
Sure sounds like the 50 is well liked.
