A quick Qu to all you people using the Sennheiser EW172G2 - a dealer has just told me that they are not suitable for active high output basses - is this true??

Wireless units usually have some adjustment in their input level. I think I remember the Sennheiser I used having one readily available. Sometimes it's hidden inside the transmitter, I opened up an old Nady to adjust it.

GC hates me because ive bought every wireless they've ever had on their shelves and returned it before the 30 days.

Funny, I did the same thing a few years back. I eventually found an X-wire for sale used.

Seems fine, but it is not as transparent as a guitar lead - silent when nothing is being played, but notes themsleves have a very quiet background "haze" or hissy "fuzziness" about them. You have to listen hard to hear it (would be lost in a band context), but it is there whe I put it through my studio monitors. A lead in comparison is totally silent, clear and strong. Is this par for the course with these units in particular, or typical of wireless systems on the whole and something you have to live with?

Help me out please before I decide whether to keep it or not.

I would live with it. You aren't recording with it, so consider it only in the "band context". If you don't hear it there, you don't hear it.

X-Wire...you will never go back. I can not tell any kind of difference even a hundred feet away i sound awsome and i love it! If you can find an X-Wire that works buy it fast!

update..this one the audio output keeps going silent on the jack output!! 2 faulty units then...methinks I will look at the more expensieve Shure ULXS

That happened to me with Sennheiser as well. X-wire was bought, but the tech is not exactly the same.

I have a AKG guitarbug system and it will definatly not handle a low B properly. Even my 4 string jazz sounds less full with it. It only goes down to 40hz i believe and a low B is 31hz so dont get it if you use a 5 string. its a nice system though bt nt great for bass
Im now on the look out for a system that can handle a low B but have not seen many yet. the more costly Shure system goes down to 25hz but i cant find one in the uk at the moment (although i havent looked too hard yet)

Edit: just found one and im amazed how expensive it is. so thats out.
One other thing im wondering. my cab only goes down to 40hz so is it worth me getting a wireless system that goes lower?
