Double Bass Wiring a pickup and tranducer

I'm making a mixer/blender box that consist of: an input jack for my tranducer that goes to a volume pot than out to a
1/4" jack & a magnetic pickup wired in directly to a volume pot and than out to the same 1/4" jack. Since the output levels of each are diferent-Does anyone know if the two need to go thru a capasitor of some sort to prevent the hotter signal from going back thru and effecting the other signal???

Wiring a piezo transducer directly to a volume pot is problematic due to the very high impedances involved. At the very least this requires a wee bit of active electronics, but if you are in DIY mode anyway, the additional complexity should be manageable.

Check out "quick and dirty piezo preamp" at my little web page.

As fdeck mentioned, you will need a buffer for the piezo pickup before connecting it to any kind of passive mixer. If you have basic electronic skills, it's very easy to make one yourself with an FET and a few other small parts. You can also do a Google search on FET buffer and find some simple circuits.

Thanks for all of that. I did wire the input jack from transducer to a 500k pot and it alone works great- no loss in signal. Next is the mag. pickup. I'll see what happends .Might be looking to try one of your buffer or preamp plans.
