Wiring diagram - bridge earth

Hi all

I've got a nice wiring kit through the post today for my project P bass, and this is the wiring diagram that came with it

Noticed there is no bridge earth as there often is, is this required with the cloth covered wire etc?

I am handy with a soldering iron etc but this is the first time I have wired a bass/guitar up

The bridge can be connected at any ground point.

It isn't "required", but you'll notice a huge buzz if you don't.

Maybe. Depends on the shielding and the pickups. Most of my builds omit the bridge ground. It’s only been a problem on a few of them.

Don't use that drawing. It's a no-no to suspend the capacitor between two pots like that.

If you want the option of a brighter timbre when the knobs are dimed, use 500K Ohm pots.

Bartolini would disagree about the cap strung between pots. Thats how its drawn on their diagram.

Gibson does it as well, it's still bad practice.

Gibson also wires their LPs & SGs in such a way that when both pickups are selected either volume acts as a master volume. This makes it impossible to blend!
That should tell you something...

Don't even get me started about Bartolini

It makes no sense to solder a stiff wire between two pots that can rotate, when it would be more sensible to use a flexible wire.

I'll use the SD diagram plus to me it is easier to follow

The pups I have coming are Dimarzio model Ps won't make any difference though I guess ?
