Wisdom teeth extraction

I had all four of mine removed back in the stone age when I was in the Air Force. No sedation and mild painkillers. It wasn't as bad as I had anticipated. Much like the shot I had to get in my right eye a couple of weeks ago... after the initial dread (think "A Clockwork Orange"), the actual shot was anticlimactic.

I had the two tops removed at the same time, and one bottom years later. No sedation, just novocaine. It was a little painful when the novocaine wore off, but not unbearable. All mine were yanked in the office, no surgery. It wasn't all that bad and I hate and fear medical procedures.

All done!

The physical extraction took all of 20 seconds, the rest of the 1/2 hour was getting the anesthetic shot (Novocaine?) & waiting for it to do its work.
Dentist said it was fine to use Tramadol as he was only going to prescribe extra strength Tylenol with Codeine.

I just had all five of mine removed surgically. Yeah, five. My body wanted to make an extra one for some reason.

What ever I was given wore off pretty quickly, about an hour after op.

And I keep popping the clots by trying to speak...

I was hoping to not take any painkillers more than Advil, but the ache gets pretty annoying once I pop the clots.

Sheesh, the memories this thread brings back.

Had my right upper one removed and it was a nightmare. Evidently I have long roots that curve, and when the dentist was twisting and pulling for a half hour I hear a loud 'pop'. Didn't feel anything but the next thing I see is a large chunk of my upper jawbone with the tooth in tact in it. He filled the hole with bone material and stitched it up with about a half-mile of thread. Only a couple days later did he inform me that part of my sinus lining came out with that tooth/bone piece, and that I was in serious peril for a potentially fatal infection. There was more to the story but for brevity's sake I'll stop there. That dentist said he wouldn't touch the one on other side, that I needed an oral surgeon.

Fast forward about three years, new insurance by that time so I had a different dentist. I related the above story and said about needing an oral surgeon to get the upper left one extracted. He takes a look, shakes his head, and says, "Lean back and say Ahhh". Not 45 seconds later he had the wisdom tooth extracted clean and simple. His words of advice to me? He says, "Don't go back to that other dentist."

My jaw started hurting a lot about a month after the extraction. The bone of my jaw was growing out of my gums. It was a searing pain like someone was cutting my gums.
Coupled with that I got a bad sinus infection at the same time. I could barely swallow & was in pain all day.

The dentist said it was normal. Right now the gum is covering the bone, but just barely.

These teeth were numbers 7-11 of teeth that I’ve had pulled. First six were when I was younger, and they were baby teeth.

Since I was unconscious for this one, I’d have to say it was the easiest op. I think it probably hurts more afterwards, though. Kinda a dull throb unless I accidentally aggravate them.

The worst part, in my opinion, regarding tooth extractions, are the numbing shots they give. Those hurt a lot when I last had them. Then again, I was still pretty young.
