Wisdom Teeth

I have to go get my wisdom teeth out next wednesday. Doc said that they are only partially impacted, and the roots aren't fully formed, so it won't be too bad. I'm getting laughing gas, no anisthetic, and it's supposed to be around a half hour, maybe less. I'm still a little worried, although I am usually calm in the chair.

Anyone else had them out? How did it go?

i got mine out a few years ago, it was alright. mine grew in fine, it was just hard to brush them and i had a cavity forming on one of them. iirc i was on something through an iv, and it was sweet. i barely remeber them pulling the teeth out, but i can remember the suction i felt in my head when they did it.
i put them under my pillow that night for the tooth fairy

I had it done, with the nitrous oxide.

The dentist asked me how I felt, and I said, "I haven't felt like this since college." Creeping thing was hearing them crushing and extracting your teeth.

Overall, not that bad.

When i had it done they gave me gas for 15 minutes then gave me an i.v. and injected the medicine and i was out until it was done. they had to cut 2 of mine out. it wasn't too bad, but the pain medicine i took on an empty stomach made me throw up, and i swallowed a huge piece of gauze while i slept. don't do that makes the old stomach hurt quite a bit. but overall not too bad

My wife and her two sisters had them out last year. Luckily mine fit so I don't have to worry. My wife and her sister were extremely sick after getting them out. It was rather gross... lots of bleeding and puking. My wife had to go back to get the holes flushed a couple of times as she developed dry socket.

All 4 of mine were impacted, so I got knocked out. The recovery was not a pleasant experience.

The worst part is, my appointment is right after my last high school exam ever, so it's basically "Congratulations on finishing, now hold still while I rip apart your mouth."

I had it done under nitrous, too. I think I took one codeine pill after, and that was it. Felt fine the next day. No pain.

The guy who took mine out must have just done a crap job.

My mouth hurt for like a week. I was sick of eating just pudding. It sucked. I was put under for mine. Guess he knew he would do a crappy joba nd didnt want me to know.

I had mine removed last friday. Out of 4 teeth, only 1 provided some sort of resistance, though it showed during the next few days. The side where they came out easily barely hurt. The other side however... it got pretty swollen. Ice is your friend. I'm doing pretty good, though my jaw is still a bit stiff, and I gotta be careful when I brush my teeth and eat stiff foods.

Yeah the first night is pretty bad. I had all four removed under local anethaesia. It's a pretty amazing sensation. There's no pain, but it's a lot like an elephant stepping on your head or someone elbowing you in the mouth repeatedly.

I had mine out yesterday. It's cake. Mine were majorly impacted, the doc had to break them into four to get them out. They were also well-developed and into the jawbone.

They knocked me out with something from an IV. I don't even remember going to sleep. I just know I woke up with a totally numb face, gauze in my mouth, and a slightly drunk feeling. After about three hours the novocaine wore off and I had to start taking the pain pills they gave me.

All in all, I feel pretty good today. There's not too much pain anymore really, just a kind of deep, distant soreness. My gums are a bit swollen. I still can't really eat solid food, I've been living off of yogurt and pudding. That might not sound bad, but believe me, you get sick of it.

I had them out 17 years ago, all 4 at once, had the iv, they were deep in there.
I recovered quickly, probably only took one pain pill that night, and that was it.
I wish the dentist would have cleaned his shoes, that foot print on my chest ruined my favorite Iron Maiden shirt....

YES it definitely was creepy hearing wisdom teeth extracted. I forgot about that.

I was given laughing gas and valium, and according to everyone there, I was a real riot.

Here's my memory of the day:

1. Feeling full force of the pill, having little sleep the previous night and the laughing gas in, the doc says to count to ten. I make it to "ughhhhh"


2. Surgery done, I'm awake.


3. I must've blacked out, cause now I'm sitting in the waiting room....don't remember how I got here.


4. Since when was I standing up? I don't know why I'm so angry, but feel like punching the door next to me. So I did.

5. I'm somehow magically standing outside my mom's car waiting for her to unlock it. I punch her door. I don't think it was a hard punch, cause my mom is laughing at me.

6. I'm on a sofa at home, watching tv. I don't know the how/when/why I'm here, but I'm comfortable.

I had all four of mine taken out when I was 17 and was eating steak for dinner that evening. I couldn't stand having the gauze stuck in the holes in my jaw, though. I would say that was the only thing that made me nauseaus.
