They are very different. The Green Tea Bass is a semi-hollow design. The neck runs through the body, sandwiched between the birch plywood top and back. Very similar to a Gibson 335 semi-hollow guitar compared to a Fender Telecaster (for example), this semi-hollow bass has a deeper, richer, warmer sound. The medium scale (32") TI Jazz Flats with the single coil pickup are a great match. For some reason, the output is much greater than most Wishbasses. You can easily coax some cool feedback from the amp if you place the guitar close to the speaker cab.

I really miss this bass and don't know why I chose to sell it. It balanced extremely well, both sitting and standing - and you don't have to finger or pick the strings over the fingerboard, which is quite common with the extended fingerboards of most Wishbasses. (That's one of my pet peeves with Wishbasses).

It's truly a gem in the Wishbass world.

I'm going for the obvious here - since it's for sale again, why not buy it back and hang on to it? (Even if the price ain't right) - uh, none of my business really ...

You may want to check out Thunderitter's thread about the refin work he did on his Fantasy. Also, I am writing a pretty detailed "Wishbass Refinishing Primer" which I am happy to share as well. Only thing is, I am not done writing it and with my moving and all, it will be a couple of more months before I do, I predict. The main difference between mine and Thunderitter's is that I am going into a lot more detail - I am orienting this towards the person that hasn't done much of this kind of work before. There's even a tool list, etc. If you would like to see what I have written so far, I PM'd you about that, so look in your PM folder and let me know if I can help you further in any way. Kool?

Pete; I'm all for buying and selling these basses, but every once in a while you run into one that demands special recognition and probably should be hung on to. That's the nature of a handmade instrument that is made of wood - each is unique and some will do certain thing others won't. Also, you designed this one - how special is that?

I'm just opining out loud here ....

Very Nice! It's never too late, only perhaps too little. Which Hyper (or Hipper) is this one? What woods are we looking at? Bought new from Wish or somewhere else? Welcome aboard!

Actually, I live about an hour from wish. I went and picked it up from him. It's walnut front and back, thin maple accent line, walnut, purpleheart, and maple neck, ipe fingerboard(I think). Sounds beautiful. I've played it quite a lot if you can tell by the wear.

Oh yea, #743. I had it on ebay for a week and realized I couldn't bring myself to sell it. Just thinking about boxing it up made me end the auction. Hope I didn't piss anyone off.

Hello everyone. I'd also like to join this club. Here's a photo of my Wishbass:

I bought it from ebay in May last year, shortly after coming across the infamous "Wishbass demo" video on youtube. I was so fascinated in the unusual looking and sounding instrument in the video that I immediately began looking up and reading about it.
I was suprised when I learned that the man who plays the Wishbass in that video is actually Wishnevsky himself.
After that, I was so eager to get a Wishbass that I went on ebay and bought one that Wishnevsky happened to be selling off.

Anyway, about the Wishbass itself. It's a fascinating instrument. Perhaps the fit and finish isn't quite as I'd like it, but overall it's very nice. It's got a very woody sound to it, and it doesn't feel too bad to play. The neck is quite thick compared to most basses, but this hasn't caused me any problems.

As a side note, I'm 100% honest when I say that I really like the wishbass demo. It sounds really interesting to me... Wishnevsky has an interesting playing style. I suppose he is a little out of tune at points, but it doesn't bother me. It's a unique and interesting performance... just as the Wishbass itself is a unique and interesting bass guitar.

BensonX; You're the first person I know of that has commented positively about that dang YouTube video! Not only that, but it inspired you to get a Wishbass! That is just a cool story. Thanks too, for the picture. By the way, what number is your Hipper?

Fellow TBer's; A while back I asked Wish about making an electric mandocello along the lines of his acoustic "Moon" mandolin ( I was wanting something with a bigger neck and electric). He said he would try and lo and behold, he has. He sent me a picture of it today to see if I want it. Of course I do, but I just traded for the fanned fret Hipper and need to focus on moving and the stuff I already have. He should have it up on Ebay soon I would think. It's pretty kool and kind of has an "Arabian Nights" look to it. Check it out ..

Also, can you dig the striped Peanut on Ebay right now and the kool pear Swirl? Yikes, so many "Wishful" things, so little time (and money)! Enjoy!

That be the one! I would have snagged it, but I could only work out the banjo trade against one item and when I saw that he had a fanned fret bass lurking in his shop - that took precedence. Oh well, maybe someday down the road ....
