Congratulations, I hope it was worth the effort, she's a beaut.

I'm am no expert, but as you will know, you learn a little more after each refin and I've certainly honed my process. This was the first time I've taken a saw and router to a bass to alter the shape (I've only done battery cavities in the past) so that was certainly interesting and rewarding.

While I was was sad to see #1068 go, particularly because it plays as nicely as it looks, it taught me a lot. The ebony nut and bridge were fun to do and getting a really good fingerboard with a nice radius was satisfying.

The other positive was that I even managed to scrape a little profit even after all the fees from eBay and PayPal! I won't admit what my hourly rate ended up being, but let's just say I can at least buy myself a few beers! :D

The new owner has been in touch, and it looks like it's going to a good home - just down the road from me too!

I am at various of three new re-fins right now. Two of these are interesting indeed (watch this space!) so the sale of #1068 helps feed my hobby without upsetting the wife - too much! (Only joking there; the wife is very tolerant of my late nights in the basement!)

It is nice indeed. Congrats on your new Scarab.

Here's mine; which I've shown before, but since we are on the subject! It's #668 in a wild oak burl with purpleheart fingerboard.

Due to lighting, it's actually a bit browner than how it appears here. Neck is made up of walnut, maple and ph. Enjoy ...

You guys really take a lot of pride in refinishing. Lots of nice stuff. I didn't spend a lot of time on mine, I felt the whole idea of wishbass was big tree trunk with strings that go boom boom! I bought it in white and never did any more sanding.

Here's mine again if you don't remember.

See you did the smart thing - If you got one off eBay that had received the lacquer you would want to refinish!

Sorry Rollerberg, but my money is on ole' #88; the cherrywood Peanut! I know you hate yourself for selling your Scroll, but still; let's be reasonable here! .....:D

I really dig your other basses too - especially the old Jazz bass (wow) and the violin-bodied baby - kool ....

That purpleheart hipper is pretty fine too. I find myself wanting to order another wishbass, but I'm hooked on the hipper and I have two now, so...I guess I better stand on the sidelines for now and admire everyone elses collection!

MG: You know, that is a totally legitimate and understandable outlook to take on these basses, so no worries! They truly do lend themselves to that realm, plus, some of them simply will not clean up "enough", IMHO. A part of me kind of wishes I could leave them alone even, but the detail person in me wins out every time! Anyway, this is part of what we love about Steve's work - ya' got options!

Your Hipper is very striking looking just as it is, by the way. I love the angled headstock especially. Got any more photos to share?

On a separate focus, what happened to the "show us your Scarab" posts?

I did sell my Banana bass.
Now, the only Wishnevsky bass I own is a MandoBass (aka LuteBass). I'm working with Wish on a few new design concepts that should be introduced in the next few weeks or months.

yeah....then that was yours i saw you playing in the youtube vid. i don't know what it is about it.....but i think i gotta have one. it's just so bizzare. kinda like me.
