Wishbass Club (part IV)

So, I'm curious about pickup covers. I've seen some of the giant metal shields that go over the pup and strings, but what I'm thinking of are the covers right over the pup (under the strings) that match the body wood. Anybody do this on a Wish? Questions/comments welcome...

Not worth the bother IMHO. I think the most of the units that Wish uses are sealed so you have issues there as you'd have to have something built that fitted over the existing cover. Wish routs his holes to be tight so there's not a lot of space without a re-rout.

A few makers offer pick-ups with removable plastic covers but I haven't come across anyone doing replacement covers for those, like you can get for P90s and Strat Single Coils.

We're down to the last 12hrs for ol' #1068 on the 'bay:

'Quite a few questions this time, so who knows?

I've landed another refin job as result of posting #1086 for sale, so maybe I should just keep it up there as a cheap form of advertising! It also reinforces that the pricing I have for #1068 is not too high; I'm actually priced about $150 too low, if you know what I mean!

Now all I need to do is inform the wife that I'm going to be living in the basement this fall when I'm not working or playing with my band!

ouch. lol. she's the one who calls me that, because apparently i can't play without glowering. i can posture and say "i AM gettin' it, woman" all i want....but she's the one with the money. :rollno: :crying: :help:
no, she just wants me to wait till tax return time. and i'm impatient.

before i completely derail the thread, does anyone have an "arrow" wish? that's the other model i'm looking at and i wonder how comfortable that one is.

Fantasy #1091 arrived this morning. Super nice one. I mean, in the realm of Wish. Probably the most playable of any wishbass I've played (I think I've played 6 of them so far), and certainly the closest to "finished". Would be a great candidate for a full, proper finish job as the quality of the bubinga (solid!) is very high.

Nice bass, I admired that one along with the rosewood Fantasy that was on eBay at about the same time. I thought it would be a nice one and I'm glad to hear it's checked out ok!

Are you going to refinish it yourself?

Very nice. When I saw that listing I was smitten. If the pup was 2-3 inches further from the bridge, I would have pulled the trigger in a blink.

I would be very interested to hear some samples of that beauty, if you ever get around to it.

Have fun, James

That was exactly what made me wait a couple days before buying it!

It's actually not that nasally for the positioning of the pickup, even with the crappy strings wish puts on when he ships. I've got a set of flats at home I'll put on later and see how it sounds.
