Tsal's reaction is the same as mine - could this be the first one I've seen that might be worth owning?!?!?

A 32" scale on any multi-string bass scares me, much less a 4-string.

The characteristic gaping-hole-in-the-body of his basses still doesn't make any sense to me at all, sonically and ergonomically.

The control plate still looks like you might see "Budweiser" in it if you looked close enough.

Nonetheless, this effort is the closest I've seen him come to a respectable effort.

That is by far the best looking and most functional one he has built. I like it. I'll bet that the doubled strings sound pretty nice with the fretless purpleheart board. With a good J pickup, it might be a pretty decent sounding bass.

After seeing some of his most bizarre designs, I'd say it requires something even more funky than jet fuel.. Something like Blair's 2am Reserve or similar in composition, straight from the bottle

by looking at the pictures, it seems like that he knows what his doing with the woods.. don't get me wrong, I said woods, not the design..

give him your design (and be strict about it) and I bet he could build you a killer bass...

Woodworking first, quality bass-building a distant second.

I think some one needs to actually try one, I mean your all judging his abilities and his basses on pictures. His feedback is all positive. I want one.

Positive feedback = he didn't steal their money, he shipped it well and timely, and what arrived was more or less what he advertised. Doesn't really indicate it was a good bass or anything (I'm sure the places that sell Jay Tursers have plenty of good feedback )

You are not seeing things. He is getting better. Check out that "neck joint" (what do you call that on a neck-through?) - beautiful work!

Look closely - the figured maple on the back of the bass looks nicer than the front!

A 32" 8 string fretless???

Hey Wishy - make the styling a little more conservative (just a little - gotta be freaky to be a Wish) and make a standard 34" bass. Let's see it!

I think that he's probably reading. The woodworking is beautiful but a little more care in the fit and finishe of the pickguard and other areas would be appreciated.

I remember reading somewhere here that Wishnevsky doesn't put truss rods in his basses. ***???

I've always though that someone could make an attractive body design that incorporated an open hole (not that this Wish is it!). Does anyone know of such a beast?

That's why we buy them it has nothing to do with not being individuals or being boring. The fact that they sound great and play very well the very reason we do so.
I've got to wonder why you always seem rather defensive about the whole deal, calling us conformists and unimaginative...because we rag on Wishnevsky? We rag on a lot of basses. So does my dislike of Fender's make me enemy of the state to all Fender players?

One more thought.. If you can't get the sound out of your hands on a cheapo bass, you surely won't get it out of one that cost 2 grand!!

Define cheapo. Cheapo's don't have the nice electronics, superior construction, and overall playability that cheapo's do. Sound better, yes. They don't make you play better, and you if you can't play, that's our problem, but they sure can improve the SOUND.
