Ok, now, tell me how to install them in my Jazz :D

First you get a router... ;)

Since they will be in MM style cases, the end results will look something like this:

Well, I can't really say that I understand what's going on. I have been playing around with an inductance calculator ([Invalid or Expired Link Removed])
And a small circular coil with 1500 windings and a diameter of 12mm gets you about 17Henry of inductance. While a rectangular coil of 65x20 gets you about 69Henry. The two coils in a normal humbucker are parallel, so thats 34.5Henry. If you put all coils in a "wall-ish" humbucker in series thats a whopping 136Henry of inductance. Am I missing something here?
Apparently magnetic aperture is also important, a narrow one to have a brighter sound, and put all coils in series (inductances and DC resistance) for enough low-end.

Best regards,

Jarno.

Actually that doesnt look bad at all (the MM style pup in the Jazz body). If I also throw in a preamp from ACG, how close do you think I could get?

I think very close.

Also I have a version of a Wal-esk preamp on the way. It will have the mid boost and pick attack EQ, as well as active blending and low pass filters with variable Q.

My man, I need to subscribe to this thread! (actually, I think I already did before). My absolute ideal tone is a Wal, but even now in a lousy economy they are ridiculously priced for 25 year old models.

Do you have plans to combine all of these components into a bass? (please say yes and that you wont sell them for $8K) ;)

How many turns did you put on your humbucker coil in your simulation? try adding up all the turns from each coil... so if you have 4 coils at 1,500 each, you'd need one large coil with 6,000 turns. The geometry of the coil matters as well.

I used 1500 turns for all coils, that's not correct, I'll punch the numbers again.

By the way, on a german musicelectronics site somebody made a perf layout for a statevariable filter.

Of course, this doesn't have a preset or anything.

"On the way" as in ordered from someone else or "on the way" as in you are midway through developing your own?

I mentioned earlier that I'm seriously considering using your pickups in a custom build later this year, but I'd like to have the right pre to go along with them.

I'm developing my own. It wont be an exact clone, but it will be an improved work-a-like. So basically a two channel preamp with LP filters with variable Q, and probably the Wal mid boost and pick attack filters, and active blending on the way out.

My pickups work well with any preamp, and I want this preamp to also work well with any pickup.

My own personal bass has an EMG-BTC in it, just because I had one laying around. Time for something new. ;)

Whats this mid boost you speak of, if you don't mind?

The original Wal preamp had a switchable lower mid boost for each pickup, and then had a "pick attack" master upper mid boost.

Sorta curious if they'll have the pole pieces showing or if you'll managed to get them working like soap bars do?

I'm planning on an exposed adjustable pole model that will be closest to the original, and then a covered pole model that will use blade poles. Blades are useable with any string spacing unlike exposed poles.
