The bass has the Dolph pickups, cos Enrico ensured me that was the best for the "sound goal". The pre-amp is SP2 with added passive tone control, you guessed right there.
The all ash neck is great, altho it's not played in yet,
,the sound is still changing and will take some time to set. But I can say the ash neck gives a darker maybe warmer flavor to the sound, especially when chording from the e-string you get a very strong warm chord from it somehow.
The all ash neck was something Enrico and the guys came up with just before they started with my bass, they where very convinced it would help the tonal character of the bass, so I went along with that idea, which I don't regret

Hey Jake, is there a big difference in playability between the 34" and 35" Chronos models? I've played some 35" guitars that felt more like 80", and some that felt just like 34s. I'm looking very hard at the apple topped Chronos you pointed me towards earlier in May (two pages ago in forum time 
) and the only concern I have is the 35". Dan has a 34", but frankly I'm not fond of the look of it and I'm hoping to get something I'll be looking at for a long time.

Hey Jim, I know what you mean about differed 35's feeling different from another, it seems to have alot to do with bridge placement and upper horn length.
From what I remember, the apple topped chronos didn't feel especially bigger, and first position was no less manageable. IMO that bass was so well suited to 35" scale because tinamou it just killed in the lower region. I am a huge fan of wt obviously, and if you read my review, it's obvious that I was smitten by that bass. But to answer your question, I'm definitely familiar with that phenomenon, and in my memory that particular bass did not suffer from it.

Any of you guys using Tecamp Puma heads for their WT? I've got a Markbass LMII, and a rack setup (Demeter HBP-1 and QSC 1.4), and I'm thinking about upgrading the portable rig from the LMII to a Puma 500. Just wondering if WT users can give me some feedback... thanks!

Not sure yet Jake. Dan should have the Smith back in his hands from me today, and that's the only thing holding up the W&T from shipping. If it ships tomorrow I should have it Thursday I'm thinkin'
So I got my bass, it's awesome, but it had an issue with the first two frets not being perfectly level. It's in Norio Imai's shop as we speak, and should be fine in a week. Fantastic bass otherwise though, absolutely gorgeous and a joy to play.

Hey Jim! Glad to hear it landed safely, that's wierd about the fret issue, was def not the case when I had it, but who knows. The playability and fretwork were some of the things I found so impressive. Either way, seems like a quick and painless fix for such a great bass.

I sent an email to Enrico about the fret wire in case I needed to have frets replaced (it didn't need anything that serious) and this is what he said about my bass"
"that one happens to be one of our ten best-sounding basses ever. Its low-B focus especially deserves some praise as it is so focused and playable that I personally have experienced a very few times in my life, on any bass guitar. "

That was my impression of the lower half of the spectrum on that bass. It really killed down there
Hi Jake, I bought the Chronos 6 with the chestnut top that showed up somewhere in this thread and my main amp is a Puma 500. My Chronos has a very complex sound which works best with a transparent and even sounding Amp. The Puma sound is actually very transparent and even but with a nice big low end, and it does not have any special midrange things going on like the markbass amps with its special highmid voicing or the TC amp with the tuby low mids. I think its a great match, the Puma is my favorite with the Chronos so far.
I'am not playing the chronos that much at the moment because i also have a noise issue with the bassculture pickups which sadly isn't solved yet.
