Congrats! Thats a killer looking W&T! If it has the Uni Pre, it has a small trimpot inside the cavity for output volume, along with the thumbwheels for EQ frequency points. My Reed James were a little quiet too, but I was able to goose the trimpot and make them sound great.

The preamp is a Bartolini NTMB-F. It did have a trim pot, and now the volume is perfect. Thanks you guys!

I see that some of you own or have owned 6 string basses that are chambered. Can you share what the scale length and weight is/was? Also if you have a non chambered I’d be interested to know.

The reason I ask is that I am looking to get a 32” (E-F) or 33” (B-C) six string that weighs in under 9 lbs, but still balances well. I am looking at 3 different luthiers and just trying to figure out which will meet my needs the best.

The W&T 5 string I have weighs 8.3 lbs.

I had a wt hollow body 6 that was very light. Can’t remember exactly but under 9 lbs I bet. 33” scale

Thanks so much! My old chronos and hollowbody chronos with flats is all over that billy sea record. Fantastic basses I really miss them. I pathologically trade basses and it’s a fun process but it means I let go of killer pieces that I end up missing.

Currently I am after a 33“ scale 5string tuned E-A-D-G-C.

I love the design of the Wood & Tronics but never heard of them before. Is there anything that I should be aware of (someone mentioned an issue with the truss rod), any recommendations? The bass linked above should work with an E to C tuning hopefully. Any thoughts?

Did Enrico changed something in the building process/electronic...that would make an actual bass better compared to the older models (the bass from bassdirect was build in 2013).

Any help is much appreciated!

The bass looks awesome◡̈ Enrico’s skills have been really consistent and I’ve played both an older build and a new bass which I custom ordered myself. Both plays like a dream and is definitely worth the money. The price for the bass is great and it looks awesome◡̈ Go for it!

Yep! I randomly saw it in the classifieds even though it was buried several pages deep. Couldn't pass it up. I've been intrigued by these basses for some years and can't wait to try it out!

Welp, I'm out of the club. Bass had high action - and no way to drop the B and C strings any lower with the goofy W&T custom bridge. Neck relief was just about right. Pretty bad experience for my first interaction with the brand, there were a number of QC / fit and finish items that boggled my mind as well. Had to return the instrument.

No way to do that with a massively assymetrical pocket, it would be a disaster. The entire bridge and saddle system being machined down would be the only option. One which I was not willing to undertake. I've never seen a bass in this price range that had issues getting decent action.

ah, yeah that pocket is not an easy one to shim. I hear ya. I had a couple issues with mine. All in all I found them to be exceptional, if a little quirky. And the bar is real high for me.
