Bollocks. I gigged with all my Alembics except the first (a Distillate) but only because I wasn't in a band at the time. However, I was working in a studio recording ads and corporate stuff and it was used all day and often by others if I was needed to do something else.
You have a distorted view on this. Very.
Where is this hostility coming from?
I don't have a distorted view. It's you who are distorting my comment. In fact, whatever has your hair on fire has absolutely no relation to anything that I posted.
I never said anything negative about Alembic, and in fact, I have learned quite a bit about musical instruments from Rick Turner, and have a tremendous amount of respect for him.
I've recounted some of the conversations that I've had with him throughout this thread.
What I did say was that a "coffee table bass" is one that was purchased to be looked at, and not played.
Since I made no mention whatsoever about Alembic in this context, and in fact I didn't mention any specific maker at all, and since the instruments you're talking about are clearly being played, your strange and unwarranted attack has absolutely nothing to do with my post. Whatever it is that you're attacking only exists in your head.
You're tilting at windmills.
