I went in '99. The first two days, I felt were okay, but I went back to my tent for the last part of the day. I could hear Limp Bizkit, but didn't know what was happening at that moment. The next morning, I could feel a change. I told my girlfriend and her sister we are leaving tonight as soon as the last band performed. I got separated from them that evening. I had already moved the car so we could get out of there quick. I just went back to the car and hung out. I could see a car burning in the distance. When I heard RHCP start with their rendition of "Fire", I was like ***, that's when I saw it really start unraveling.
At one point, I thought there was a fireworks show going on, I could hear the big booms, but nothing in the sky. That's when I realized it was the tractor trailer's refrigeration units exploding.
We went thinking it would be a variety of food, not overly priced, but boy were we wrong. My girlfriend and I would share a small $12 pizza in the morning and one at night, along with one or two bottles of water during the day. When I heard the promoters were aware of the food issue, 3 months before the concert, that royally pissed me off.
Idiots on both sides screwed that event up!
