There is a city is southern California called San Pedro. The proper way to say it is "San Pee-dro," rather than the Spanish "San Pay-Dro." If you say it the Spanish way, people will laugh at you. I think it is very weird.

I lived there for at least a year & always pronounced it properly, the Spanish way.

I'm jealous of those who know the difference and use those words correctly.
