I am familiar with it and have to admit I jokingly call it the same thing. Am also diabetic so see dark humour in it.We used to have a secretary/P.A. who would consistently tell people that she'd booked them a train ticket from St. Pancreas station.

My own family gets angry if I pronounce Buena Vista correctly, vehemently correcting me to "Bewna Vista"
None of them pronounce karaoke correctly either.
People in my family definitely say "sangwich".It's "sangwidge."
