words most often used incorrectly

Just thought of one. When I get a coffee and am asked what size, I want to be somewhere that understands 3 size words. Small, medium or large.

My sister was at some fast food place and ordered a small soda with her meal. She was told that they didn't have small, they only had medium and large. (Sorry for the derail.)

Grammatically, the correct title for this song would be "Lie Lady Lie," but that wouldn't sing very well. English teachers will tell you that Dylan's title is a command to place the lady on the bed, but Dylan isn't in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for his strict adherence to the rules of grammar. Neither is Eric Clapton, who did something similar with "Link Removed."

I grew up there and thought that was just the right way to speak. My wife is from the South and talked about rude New Yorkers. I explained that in a city of 8 million people, you cannot walk around saying hello to everyone and, if you see someone smiling and saying hello, you presume they are some crazed lunatic. When a New Yorker is your friend, though, they are a friend for life.

Probably one of the more bizarre uses of the word "up"..... buckle up. How is fastening a belt directional? The word "down" has similar misuses, just not as many.
