Worlds First Drum Machine in Pedal Form!

What I'd SERIOUSLY like, is a partial refund on shipping. Just ship it direct to me from the factory please. No need to ship it to the US (where everybody there gets free shipping ) and then ship it back to Asia. :rollno: :banghead:
I'm not asking for free shipping, I'll happily pay for direct logisitics; I just don't like subsidising all that "free shipping" when my own shipping cost should be next to nothing 'cause I'm so close to the factory it'd probably be cheaper for me to hop on my motorcycle and pick it up myself. :spit:

Worse, I'll probably get one that wasn't cleaned well, and then it'll go across the Pacific, not once, but twice... making it a dirty double crosser. :sour:

We actually do ship all non-USA deliveries directly from the factory -- but since we ship them individually all over the world it costs us more (rather than one bulk shipment into the US and then USPS). It's very difficult for us to charge international shipping individually at this point, so we had to make an average. On the plus side, you'll get it a few days before everyone else :)

Yes, you can import any WAV file into the drum set or accent hit.

Limitations:

There is no size limit for a wav in a drumset as long as it fits inside the total size of 100 MB allowed per drum set. For a accent hit, the size of the wav is limited to 15 seconds of sound. The size will depends on its format (16/24bit and mono/stereo). The maximum size (24 bit stereo) is approximately 3.78 MB.

Thanx for confirming.

I have plans to put together a trio with friends on guitar/vox/ipad & fretless bass/keys and myself on drums/stuff and the BB may find its place in this project, as a drum machine freeing some of my limbs so I can add more stuff and/or some more pushy creative uses. Kind of the fourth "touring member".

Excellent! Can't wait to get my filthy paws on this pedal hooked up to some DAWs...

5/8, 6/8, 7/8 will be first up on my practice regimen before moving on to other odd (to me) time signatures...

All the news stuff refers to David as a Miami entrepreneur, and Singular Sound has a Florida address. But you raise an interesting point, and I would be curious to know the background of the team as well.

Just remember where you got the "My Band Buddy" moniker from, post #733!

So are you and your crew from Quebec, or France or...? I was looking at the MBB website and all the people involved in bringing this project to fruition have Francophone names. Juste curieux.

You get the credit ;-)

We're based in Miami -- product design, administration, content creation, video and website production, etc. The core engineering team is based in Montreal and Manufacturing team is in China -- So I guess you can say that the BeatBuddy is an international collaborative effort :-)

Magnifique!

Well, next time you visit your engineering team au Montréal, enjoy some poutine, smoked meat and a local brew.
MMmm poutine... Was a few years of living here without it before "Cul de Sac" opened up and though it's sadly no longer around a few other places caught on and serve it. The best poutine was Cul de Sac's, run by a Montrealler named Neil, but even so he couldn't get the proper cheese curds and nobody else here knows how to do it right. PM me if you're ever passing through HK.

Thanks for the tip! Next time I'm in Montreal, I'll make sure to check it out.

We're currently in central China, but if we manage to stop by Hong Kong, I'll definitely PM you.

I've done this exercise. It's the taxes part, that I don't understand.

I don't think there are taxes in the sense of sales tax, but there may be customs. That depends on your country and is not determined by Beat Buddy.

The only taxes you will get charged (if any) are your country's import taxes -- please check with your local customs agency to see if there are taxes when you buy electronics from overseas.

I've done this exercise. It's the taxes part, that I don't understand.

Here's how to do the maths :
- Deduct the taxes from the country of origin if any
- Convert to your local currency at current rate
- Add customs fees on the total (goods + shipping) amount
- Add your country's VAT on the total (goods + shipping + customs) amount
- Add any other fees such as research for unclear address (happens with those online forms taylored for US addresses)

As an example, let's say I live in Switzerland and order something worth 200€ from Germany
- 200€ /119*100 = 168.07€ ex VAT
- 168.07€ @ 1.2148 CHF/€ = 204.17 CHF
- 204.17 CHF * 103% + 11.5 CHF (fixed amount for imports from a neighbour country) = 221.80 CHF
- 221.80 * 108% = 238.68 CHF

I usually approximate "price in € * 1.2 = price in CHF" : find a formula like that to make your life simpler.
