Worship Bass Pedalboards

HOLY CRAP I gotta check out Onsong!
We don't use charts in service but for rehearsal that would be AWESOME. We always learn by Nashville Number system but the other features sound NICE.

Also, +1 to "thunder" keyboard effect LOL!!! Epic.

Too many different players through 5 services every Sunday at one church and three AM services at satellite church. AM/PM tunes are different. No charts allowed onstage. Personal cheat sheets on the floor are okay though.

So the charts being wrong can be an issue if everyone doesn't listen closely when running through songs at home.

I get it. We DON'T do music stands (although it's happened in the past) because if I give u a music stand, you're going to look at it. You're not going to be worshipping, engaging the congregation, or watching/communicating with the team the same way as if u had the song committed to memory and didn't have a music stand in front of you. That being said, a couple weeks ago there were 2 big unison parts everyone needed to hit together, and I may have had a torn half-sheet of paper hidden under my pedalboard with a scribble or two on it (hiding! Lol!)

Back to "worship bass pedalboards", here's my board from this weekend. Jumbled mess of wires, but I couldn't make everything I needed fit. I wouldn't normally have both the od and the fuzz with me at the same time but I ended up needing them both this weekend, and I'm addicted to that stupid Sonic Stomp even though it's probably all in my head lol!

LOTS of crazy cool sounds came out this weekend! Only had a keyboard trio this weekend, and played mostly techno jams:

Freedom Is Here remix -> Shout unto God remix (Hillsong United) (used OC-2 stacked with triangle buff fuzz for sick dubstep tone, added Meatbox for drum/bass break)
Oceans (where feet may fail) [also Hillsong United] (used delay throughout and added octaver on building bridges at end)
Power in the Name (gateway worship) instrumental -> "in Paris" (Jay Z/Kanye West) instrumental (kicked one of almost everything on at some point in this jam)
"He's got the whole world in his hands" instrumental outro (none used, just quiet walking bass line)
Rez Power (Israel Houghton) (used fuzz/delay for intro/turnarounds/outro)
Cornerstone (Hillsong live) (delay throughout, added octaver for building chorus/praise break, for worship breakdown used od/chorus/delay/verb to play lead guitar line up high since we didn't have a guitar that day, kicked on Meatbox for "808"-style bass drop going into the "drums only" chorus)
Nothing Is Impossible (who wrote that one again? Lol!) (fuzz on intro, fuzz on breakdown)
The Climb (Miley Cyrus) instrumental outro (none used until end, then used same "lead guitar" tone to play final melody up high for outro)

Wicked fun weekend. We should start a "Monday morning" thread for sharing yesterday's setups and setlists!! Would be cool to see what everyone used and how they used it

This is where it gets touchy, but I always hate these kinds of rules...not because I believe "anything goes," but for this type of stuff I really prefer to leave things up to the individual. Invariably, people disagree on these sorts of things, so commands such as these always wind up bordering on legalism. I've been in all kinds of teams, and it seems there is always a dress code or other rules I wish weren't there. I conform out of respect, though I speak up if I think the rule is really stupid.

I will add that, it is what it is, but the last worship team I was on (I recently moved and am between teams as we decide on a church) was simply not committed enough or talented enough to commit all the songs to memory. In fact, I've never been on a team that did that (I've mostly been in smaller churches). So in addition to the fact that I bristle at someone telling me I need to worship a certain way, I just think it's weird.

Yeah, I think to me it would matter why. If it was practical it would be annoying but I would understand, if it was purely aesthetic I would have a big problem with it.

I'd say I was more disturbed by "The Climb" :)

We just played "Alive" this past weekend (hillsong united). We had a loop going, so I was using an EHX bass microsynth for a crunchy synth tone during the chorus, over drive for the pre-chorus, and just a touch of grit from my tone hammer for the verses.

This is how my church looks at it, and I tend to fully agree. I don't have a problem memorizing songs anyway. Besides, I like to feel the music in worship.
That being said, there are more than a few people on the WT that can't memorize the music to save themselves, and in that case, I'd rather that they use a music stand so that they get the music right. Especially on bass.

Personally i use a music stand and chord charts for reference, with a rotation of about 100 songs and new ones added frequently i just can't remember them all, i know most of them but as we all know a lot of worship songs tend to follow the same pattern until the bridge and thats usually when i taje a quick glance at the sheet, my memory isn't what it should be i did a lot of meth when i was younger and lost some memory because of it. But in 13 days i will be clean 9 years praise God for that

The aesthetics come in because they are filming and projecting on big screens. Don't want the errant reflection from equipment, or the lights from the pedals. I think its a total PITA purely from my perspective.

Good going man. That's definitely praise worthy!

Playing at church feeds my jones and has uplifting lyrics in my head the weeks I play. I mostly listen to instrumental music nowadays. The stuff we play - pop/rock/mainstream - isn't really what I like to listen to during the week . But I listen to the tunes to get the gist, correct the charts so we're all together, and to make sure the transitions and turnarounds are right (usually have to make notes for that).

Then I do a cheat sheet with chords and maybe a note to jog my memory. The main issue I have is that so many of the songs sound alike. And if they are transposed to a key for that week's leader, then it gets even more alike. All that said, I try to keep my eyes off the cheat sheet and not be all shoe-gazing worship guy. :D

What helps me is practicing on Saturday without the charts and then write up the cheat sheet. So often I don't have to use it.

Oh yeah, pedalboards!!! My Pedaltrain mini is maxed out right now. Just got a TC Flashback Delay and really dig it. Couple options:
1. replace something (but I don't want to ma!)
2. take the tuner off (put in case pocket), put FB on the board, and just hook the tuner up off the board
3 get a Pedaltrin Jr!
