Hey, what is it that you find the NUX Studio mini doing for you? I've been interested in them.

Primarily to make me look like a 1st class bass player.

I use a NUX Mini Studio to dial in a bass cab (via IEM's) that's closer to the tone in my head. Anything that helps this process (tone in my head) with IEM's is a win in my book!

For the last Thursday's evening service (and Sunday's services), I switched from the Ampeg SV410 + Tweeter setting (which is THE loudest bass cab it has) to the the EDEN 410.

And if you're a guitar player (which I'm not), it can also be used to get electric cabs & acoustic IR's.

Definitely notice on my IEM's. That's the main reason for it for me. I mean, FOH kills as well. My sound guy actually danced when I first played it. Our singer - who by no fault of her own - knows nothing really about gear turned and said wow.
That's why the Infinity will really have to be amazing to get me to switch. Or maybe I use it as a preamp and drive through the REDDI. I'd like to use it on its own to minimize my footprint, but who knows.

Not running a REDDi but with a Khan I definitely notice a difference. The first thing I used that I noticed a difference though was a LPF to roll off some high end. Then with an IR I was able to do the same thing. The tubes have an inherent roll off too so it adds to the goodness. These days I am running the IR in an HX Stomp and the Khan to add tube goodness. It was all in a quest to have decent tone in my IEMs. I don't get to play through an amp so I want to have good tone in my ears when I'm playing.

I think any high end tube DI will help with tone for both IEM's and FOH. I don't use an amp, either, so I'm pretty particular about my gear and what's coming into my IEM's. If it sounds good in my IEM's, it probably sounds good in the FOH as well.

So after a few years of playing in church (no amps, IEM) using my HX stomp I realised I was essentially only using the tuner and a couple of other things... and the potential to fiddle knobs rather than menu dive was appealing to me...

a bit later I started the journey and realised it would probably work out more expensive... but oh well!
currently got the HX stomp, a Colourbox v2 (I love the sound of transformers) and built a Vong Filterung HPF and LPF ... which I think might be the European equivalent of Broughton HPF/LPF....
Soldering iron is still out ... Optical compressor being built and a tube preamp...
will only need a couple things then to replace the stomp all together (tuner being the main one!)

My basic pedal board that I've used for years.

Did just pick up a zoom B6 and have been experimenting with compression, octave pedals and such. If I can get comfortable with it, especially if I can develop a nice "pad" sound, I may use that instead.

The problem with most drive demos - they are all over the top. Maybe I just need to wait until the Mn GTG and spend the Saturday before in the big city trying stuff out.

I keep a a little on all the time, if I want more I turn up the knob.


Seems like all the bassists for the big mega churches are running tone hammers these days with the AGS always on…

I had a different experience with the Darkglass stuff. I tried a B7K Ultra briefly and found it to have a range of drive levels: it was not too much when I dialed in the low-gain overdrive I wanted. But I did not like the actual tone of the drive: too sterile, too perfect. That sort of things works well for metal and the genres Darkglass aims for, but I did think it was the best fit for CCM. I wanted something warmer with more character (less even harmonic breakup). Now I use a Free The Tone Black Vehicle, Damnation Audio MBD-2, and have recently started playing around with a Flattley Bass Chief.

Did you try the Infinity in a mix? I was under the assumption that the Infinity could do low-medium gain "Vintage Microtubes" type stuff.

It did do that. Preset 1 is the "tube preamp" type of tone. But it seemed like any drive was just too much. Someone said too perfect? IDK. Just not my thing I guess. I may just leave my Big Muff on and call it good. It breaks it up just enough to stand out a little on some heavier stuff.

MBD-2 for a separate pedal. I have been using a "tube drive" or overdriving the amp sim by turning up the gain when I go digital. I don't like most drives, they get too trebly for me. I want a deep grinding tone like you would get from a tube amp. Unfortunately, silent stage and all kind of restricts the options.

Source Audio Aftershock if you don't mind a billion parameters. Hook it up to your computer, and literally program the exact drive you want and save it as a preset. It has room to hold 6 presets, so it makes it easy to have a few you can switch between on-the-fly.
