I watched this and honestly thought…this is all you have to do to get a bunch of views?!?!

All these “pro musicians” literally change their boards around weekly to get views. I guess to augment all that cake they’re knocking down on tour. Oh yeah, and studio dates. lol

When I first played on a silent stage, I just used a generic DI box... 😅

When I got my 1U Ultra-DI rack, I plugged my bass in direct to the DI to test all the channels. It sounded great through the DI alone. Now, I'll just plug in direct once in a while, and connect my IEM's to one of the P2's to run through the set lists. Fewer things to connect, and power on... but the downside... no tuner and Cali76 compressor. I can add compression in through my mixer, but I find myself concentrating on technique and how I play the stings.

I won't plug in direct live... I like my pedalboard and tone through FOH. Only when I'm lazy to turn things on at home:

I have a lot of cables connected because we had rehearsals at my house recently.

I just posted this as an interesting alternative to more complex board designs, mine included (especially). The P&W Bassists were having a "minimalist" conversation and the video supported that discussion. I cross posted here because I know the DCX is popular on worship boards. I found the video fun, creative, nicely produced, and food for thought.

Arturia minibrute 2. It was $250 used from GC. It’s perfect. It’s a single oscillator but it can split that to run -2 octave sine with a saw or triangle wave on top as needed for drive. It completely owns our subwoofer.

Haha thanks, yeah I'm getting to the point I'm wondering do I just start a secondary board, which is dangerous of course 😅. I think I'm going to just run this in line out of my compressor, and then for now if I use the TH I'll bump the Broughton's off and still run out of the Neptunium. For now anyway haha we all know how that goes.

I’m two Sundays in with the Joyo jw-06 wireless system and thought I’d share with you guys because I think it is a viable option if used carefully.

It’s 5.8ghz range 60ft, 4 channels, and a 6 hour battery life. The case itself holds 3x charges. $55-70 from Amazon regularly on sale.

The good. Signal strength, no lag, battery life are all great. After 4 hours on Sunday the low battery indicator has yet to come on. No interference issues with wireless IEM or wireless mics.

The bad. The plastic is not heavy or even medium duty. One decent drop or bump and they’re probably toast. I *think* there’s a little high freq loss. To me it sounds like my tone knob rolled back just a little. Not much of an issue for me since I have my tone at 50% for church usually. No low end loss.

That’s a good report! I was paranoid of losing a signal when I went wireless so I spent the money on a Shure system. I’ve been very happy with it, but looks like I could have saved some money! They Joyo’s are like 70 bucks?

They were $55 on sale but now $70. I originally got them for at home but they sounded so good I was like why not. For now I have a cord nearby just in case.

I have... only once. The battery door on my body pack wasn't locked in place. When I dropped by bass strap on my shoulder, I dropped it pretty hard... and the AA batteries fell out within minutes of our start time. I didn't see where the batteries went, so I pulled the cable from my wireless rack, and put in my bass seconds before we started. The input cable goes from my tuner to my wireless rack, so I don't need a backup cable. I just pull it from the rack and plug into my bass, and I'm wired. With that said, I've never had to go to a backup cable because of dropouts or RF interference. I currently use a rack mounted Sennheiser EW-D Cl1 digital wireless UHF spectrum system... and very happy with it.
