I almost always like the P bass better these days. It took a few decades for me to hop on the bandwagon, but the band and myself are really sold these days.

I saved this from a post by Jim a while back:Where is the effects loop in the super pre? Analog or digitized like the stomp?
Yeah, MTD is definitely on the extreme end. I use an active J bass through various drive pedals with no problems at all just by turning down the output on my comp pedal. Although I do use drive less with it because it naturally cuts through the mix more on its own.I liked the P bass the best. Though, I think he misspoke about the finish. I don't think an original '74 P bass would have a nitro finished body. Maybe the headstock/neck but I don't know if Fender was using nitro bodies in the '70's.
The active/passive comparison is significant, but I think a Music Man would be a better comparison that an MTD with Barts. (But, I get that he was using basses he already owned.) I like the P Bass in a worship setting, but I also used a Music Man with good results.
Effects certainly 'act' different with different output basses. I have to adjust when playing my passive J.
Bryce Vaughn demos his Anagram presets. Nice.
Please tell of your "chain-of-goodness" (my eyes ain't that great). lolThis weekend's setup! Additions:
Origin Effects Cali 76 FET Compressor
Origin Effects DCX Bass
Both absolutely ripped!!!

Are you using anyones presets or did you just make your own? C4 and MXR synth pedals - do you like one better? My band wants me to use my "real" synth. I'd like to try the MXR. I have some of IMA's synth presets for the Stomp, and they're ok but the MXR seems to be really good.
I picked up a nice Lakland 55-94 active 35" fiver over the summer at the recommendation of some Nashville cats. Sean Hurley played one for years, as well, before he went all P-Bass. The thing sounds so pure and nice in the IEM's I find that I just like hearing it with no effects or anything, straight into the RNDI. Sounds pro. Pedals just take away from it. Paradigm shift..... But then again, @NickyBass steered me into a 35" Lull P5 and that thing works very well with pedals.I find I don't do much at church other than a good solid bass sound.
I have a couple nice modern 5's - fretted and fretless - that also sound great by themselves. I use them once in a while if a song needs some extended range or just for something different - like the fretless - but it's been the P for most Sundays. I actually prefer bass with very minimal to no effects. Some eq, some compression, that's about it.I picked up a nice Lakland 55-94 active 35" fiver over the summer at the recommendation of some Nashville cats. Be careful posting in the wanted section. Got an immediate response of someone who sent me a stock image. Profile had no feedback and their 5 forum posts reek of ChatGPT language.Hey guys, I have the itch to try another fuzz, specially the Fuzzrocious Li'l Fella if anyone has one they're not using.
