Just discovered this podcast, Worship|Bass|Coffee from Franklin TN. Enjoyable interview with Bryce Vaughn in this episode.
Team.... if anyone has been thinking about adding an ambient layer to your Sunday tone palette, I bought this on-sale MXR Joshua Ambient Echo to try out and really like it. They have it deeply discounted at the moment. It looks sort of cool with a few other MXR's on a small worship board. With the Joshua and sub-octave I can get a fantastic "Who Else" Gateway Worship bass synth thing from the pedal board. Addictive. Good alternatives are the HX Analog w/Mod and the MXR Carbon Copy.
I personally like the Strymon Brig looks and ease of operation. And when the guitar players come over to look at your bass board, you are granted entry to the cool kids Strymon club. Great conversation starter. Then you share admiration with all the Strymon gear on their guitar board. Instant community. There is a Brig in the classifieds at the moment.

Besides the great tones and pedals, I also respect the colour coordination of the pedals.
just starting with pedals - used the keeley bassist and the boss oc-5 tonight during service. The Keeley bassist was fantastic - I don't know why I have waited so long to use this. The OC-5 worked situationally if done subtly but not always on like the compressor.

I have a tonehammer that I love to keep on most of the time but for slower songs that don't need the drive, I find myself turning it off but then tone is lacking. I am thinking adding a dcx bass, luminal booster, JHS 424, or Darkglass vintage ultra may help out with a warmer clean tone for when the tonehammer is off. Didn't know if anyone on here has some advice? Thanks
Turn on an octaver or the microsynth for slow songs?
My issue is turning off the tone hammer reduces too much gain. I keep it on most of the time and adjust my playing style for slow songs.
This channel popped into my YouTube feed recently. I've watched parts of a few episodes and look forward to more.
The Tone Hammer and DCX Bass combo works well. On the THDI with AGS always-on, Gain to taste, you can adjust the Master so the pedal is at unity gain when Engaged/Disengaged. Essentially, the TH becomes a drive pedal. Disengage the TH for lighter sections and the DCX remains as your clean tone.

Christmas/New Year always means changes to my board. Fortunately the long awaited MXR Bass Synth arrived! Accompanied by a Dunlop DPV4 expression and a groovy little switch box from @Pedalnetics to switch between exp pedal and patch switching. It's all fitted where the EHX BMS was, and now all the TRS ports in the Rockboard are in full use. I quickly realized I wanted the MXR BS in the fx loop of the HXS so I can regulate volume, EQ post BS etc. Very happy.
Volume pedal is between the HXS and XB Driver.

Compressor before microsynth OR after microsynth?
Reasons for -
Compressor first:
1. to give the microsynth a clear, consistent signal to track
2. B string may need to be compressed to reduce noise
Compressor after:
1. to give the microsynth an unfiltered signal with more dynamics to track
2. clean up any spike in sound from microsynth
I've been using my Cali76 bass compressor before the ehx microsynth but have just tried using it after, and I think I like the tone better with the compressor after.
Thoughts?

The first red preset, Sledgehammer, plus a fuzz pedal gets very close in my headphones. I have not tried this at church though.
