Reasons for -

Compressor first:

1. to give the microsynth a clear, consistent signal to track

2. B string may need to be compressed to reduce noise

Compressor after:

1. to give the microsynth an unfiltered signal with more dynamics to track

2. clean up any spike in sound from microsynth

I've been using my Cali76 bass compressor before the ehx microsynth but have just tried using it after, and I think I like the tone better with the compressor after.

Why not both! I use 2 comps. One after the tuner (Miura M2), one at the end of the chain (CBA Clean) to catch anything that spikes.

Ok, your wish is my command.

I've just added the Keeley Compressor Pro to my board.

So it's:

PolyTune > Pedal > MicroSynth > Cali76 bass compressor > Aguilar TH > Keeley Compressor Pro > Noble

Tested it at home - sounds good - managed to get all my gain to unity FOH, so it's consistent volume with pedals on and off (excluding AGS which I'll keep always on).

Playing this Sunday so let's see how it sounds live in the mix.

I haven't tried yet, but I will. Sort of resigned myself to the fact that tone doesn't often work with the instrumentation we have at church, but i am still hopeful. I have a HXS patch that gets me close if I need it. The Bass Synth is very promising on first impressions, but there are still things I love about the EHX BMS..

Can see this pedal being great for tribute acts i play in such a the Bee Gees.

The sub mix is massive and sounds amazing but for actual usable tones through sub woofers, my feeling is it needs to be rolled back a way.

Do you think that's a fairly good replica if I'm constraining myself to mini pedals? What would you swap out? I already own the Pico Platform.

No one gave their opinions but I went ahead and did it. I like the sound. Every one besides the tuner, obviously, is always on. I got the mini pedal board from my parents for Christmas. Love how "cute" the whole thing is.

I've tried to make an "all mini pedals" board in the past, but my size 14 boot requires me to space them so far apart that I lose any pedalboard space savings that the mini housing would have otherwise afforded me. It's a shame. That being said, I'm currently using two minis on a board because it was the only way to fit a comp and tuner next to the giant Genzler pedal.

I was running a comp either side of the BMS. The BMS was in an fx loop of my HXS. I was using a HX comp block before it in the patch, and a LA-1A tube comp after it. I was happy with it.

Anyone by chance use or have used a Volt interface? My Scarlett 1/4 input isn't working and I saw the Volt 276 has a built in 1176 comp and 610 preamp emulation (same as DCX). A little skeptical at that price point for all it says it can do but could make direct only recording easier if it's good.
