Whoooo that's a lotta Darkglass!
I've been asking how others are enjoying their Vintage Ultra vs the new Alpha. What Ive read is that the Alpha may have a more organic sound and feel regarding touch sensitivity. What are your thoughts?

I've only had the VU since this morning, and have never tried the other DK models, so I can't really say... I REALLY like my VMT, and wanted more options along that tone path...hence, the VU.

I wanted to have a drastic OD setting to "kick in" for certain songs or song segments, have a light OD on all the time, and also have a distortion option. Having the DI out was appealing, too.

I just put them on my board, so we'll see if the order works. Not a lot of physical placement options on my PT Classic Jr, but I can always change the connector routing, if need be...

I still have my old small Gator board...hoping to take just my wireless (+Darkglass VU (DI) and SS pedals)...and go DI > FOH, for a very light carry in, many Sundays.

Btw, the Nimbus reverb is awesome with bass...able to dial out the reverb low end mud, and leave it on subtly...

New setup today, slightly anyways. OC-2 and Microthumpinator (temporaily?) removed to make way for the Meatbox and the Echoplex. Great results! Everything run as always on tone enhancement, except the DOD. Echoplex set on a real quick bounce back. Call it a phase but I'm currently infatuated with delays and reverbs. And I used the Meatbox for the 1st breakdown chorus of Lion and the Lamb; big synthy whole notes - filled the subs! Glorious.

First time out with this bass too. It's a 2000 Chinese Squier ash body I got a while back for $60, and I've had the Moses neck since 1995. Results were better than expected!

Here's my pedalboard. It's a Warwick rockboard. It's my first pedalboard ever and there are still some pedals I want to add ( volume pedal and the EHX Freeze ). What I love most is the TC Electronics Hall of Fame.

Keeping it simple. I just swapped out my SansAmp for the SCRDI. I'm having a hard time dialing out the high-end. I'm playing a US Fender P5 with Delano pickups. Would you advise an HPF, or a EQ pedal?

Based on replies in that thread and what else I've found, it appears to not exist outside of multi-effects units and is probably a combo of a slight envelope filter and EQ

Zoom MS60b has a fretless fx. Verdict on its qualities is not unanimous though.

The Boss MS-3 also has it, on my 5 string with EMG humbuckers its not really usable, on my ephiphone semi acoustic with tapewound strings it does sound cool, whether it sounds completely like a fretless bass is another question. It was one of the reasons that added to me buying the MS-3 but certainly not the main reason, I occasionally used it on my ME-50B but I normally had the filter / tone section dialed in for other effects.

Tanx. My thoughts were that i does not necessarily have to sound like a fretless. I just enjoyed that sound.
Maybe som tweeking on the envelopefilter and eq settings will get me there.

It's just a big battery. Similar to the Volto, but bigger. It's powering the entire board.

I suppose it just depends what you want from a Preamp. I have a THDI, and also a VT Bass Deluxe, and I love both of them. For this board I wanted something more neutral. I liked the Dr J Sparrow, but it fought with the Fairfield a bit, and didn't have a mid control. I will be using this board for recording also, so something a bit more neutral, with a mid control suited me.

I love that the M81 will drive a power amp or powered speaker too!
