Worst. Bass. Build. Ever.

Sorry, forgot to make sure the pic loaded...

What happened with the truss rod routing? Would have used a table saw and finished the ends by hand if I wasn't sure of the router.

...

Where is this example in your number of builds? If it's #37, drink less, if it's #2, it's a learning experience.

As for the rout job, I used a single sided fence to guide the router and the bit grabbed some grain and pulled away.

This was bass #4 when I started it. First neck through and the first that I tried to build without templates.

Here are my 5 "kids"...

Nice, but that's too nice for this thing...also, this 5 string bridge has very narrow string spacing and the width of the heel wouldn't accommodate a "normal" bridge string spacing.

Thanks though...

Well, it's not as nice as you might think (remember, pic is not actual bridge I have).
The offer stands if you change your mind...just pm me.

Number 4, with that many already on bass, you were bound to foul one of them.

Building without templates, might want to rethink that until a few more under your belt.

Never understood some people thinking templates are cheating somehow.

Love the fretless aesthetics, effectbox notwithstanding.

Also like the dark one.

I love me some templates...just wanted to experiment and I didn't have a template of what I wanted. Just lazy, I suppose...

You don't like the wireless pack on the fretless? :)

Used to seeing the wireless on the strap, just like uncluttered view of the instrument, on the other hand, play with someone that has a Zoom unit on his strap with some kind of a switch pad on instrument, they are tethered. Sweet.

RE: 5 string bridge on 4 string bass

I've actually thought of using a bridge like that to make a "B String thumb rest" on a 4 string bass. In essence, just make an anchor point to send a B string remnant to that would allow you to rest the thumb on a string when playing. When I play my 5, that's usually where the thumb ends up.

Aesthetically, I think it would be panned my the masses. But it would work! You may have to use "not a string" if the pickup would "hear" it, but the concept would still stand.

A thumb rest would be easier, though, in all fairness.
