Worst. Bass. Build. Ever.

It needs a paint job like this

I like the, uh... strings!

You are right - it seems hardshell cases ARE expensive (and time consuming)! Or you could have, you know, sold the case for a quick $30. :smug:

But seriously - that was a ton of work and the lessons learned will pay for themselves on future builds. Love you went frankenbass with it - surprised you didn't go further!

I would have left the veneer and painted a burst finish around the edges. Or masked off a design and painted over it and then you'd have a design with the veneer showing in spots under a clearcoat.

Edit: also the pickups are much too straight! Should be all crooked and weirdly spaced instead. ;)

I like the quirkiness! And kudos for completing it!
It would be interesting to hear if ANY non-musician will notice its, in our eyes, blatant oddities. Will any audience member ever realize the implementation of the bridge, for instance?

It still fits in the case, right??? Cases are expensive!!

Yes it does!!!

Thanks for sharing this. It was interesting in a cult movie way.

Next, you must build a bass from the piece you cut out of the center of the original body.

I used some of it to make the pickup surround.

My OCD when looking at that bridge! :bawl:

This bass is an ode to Jessica...my extremely OCD sister-in-law. I sent her the back of the headstock pic and she replied that she wouldn't be able to sleep tonight. Hahaha!

It's named OJ (ode to Jessica) because of that!
