Here I am adding wings to the already angled headstock. I would go into more detail on how I angled it, but it was stupid and dangerous. I survived...or did I?!?!

You are right - it seems hardshell cases ARE expensive (and time consuming)! Or you could have, you know, sold the case for a quick $30.

But seriously - that was a ton of work and the lessons learned will pay for themselves on future builds. Love you went frankenbass with it - surprised you didn't go further!

I would have left the veneer and painted a burst finish around the edges. Or masked off a design and painted over it and then you'd have a design with the veneer showing in spots under a clearcoat.

Edit: also the pickups are much too straight! Should be all crooked and weirdly spaced instead.

This bass is an ode to Jessica...my extremely OCD sister-in-law. I sent her the back of the headstock pic and she replied that she wouldn't be able to sleep tonight. Hahaha!

It's named OJ (ode to Jessica) because of that!
