worst bass line ever

So I had to learn and play "the zoo" by scorpions to play it live with my cover band.

Learn was not that bad but the "play" part... man, what a boring bass line. It's like playing open E for what seems to be a decade and then the chorus... it sounds like the "cannon in D" . Damn, what a bad bass part.

My band owe my one on this, maybe YYZ or something...

I totally agree with this. However, if a bass line is too boring, I get antsy and hope the next song will allow me to be a bit busier.

Well, take a song like "Your Disease". Basslines couldn't be simpler. It is still very fun to play. At least for me. The song "Loser" ( not the Beck version, which I would love to add to our set-list) is the most mind numbingly boring bass song we play. It could be worse, I could still be in a classic rock band and be forced to play "Tush" or "Simple Man".

What's wrong with "Simple Man?" Sounds like a bass line you can take some liberties with, unlike the straight-on beat of "Tush."

That was my thinking when I chose "House of the Rising Sun" for band class. Either I forget to sing, or I forget to play those downbeats. It's harder than it looks!
