Ah, Rally's... they had those Seth Green "Cha-CHING!" ads 15 years ago. Reading this post just reminded me of that.

Puts things in perspective. Military vets should have premier health care for life, a full federal, sstate, and local tax vacation for 5 years for each year of service, and an immediate 100% raise retroactive to, say, 1991.
instead we spend $ on... oh crap, dont get me started.
Anyway, worst job ever?
4) My band played a bar mitzvah gig. no one wanted us, 15 kids were there, it was beat, we were beat, and for some unknown reason we all dressed like sopranos wannabes (all black). Horrific. Why it happened I jsut dont know.
3) railroad construction in the Bronx while suffering from Lymes disease in a July/August heat wave for 3 weeks. Brutal.
2) data entry at Coach (handbags). 1 day. Mindless and just plain sucked.
1) When i was in my teens (mid 80's) I had an older friend who was a security guard at a local mall. Someone vandalized a drain somewhere and raw human sewage backed up all over the parking lot and surrounding grounds. They couldnt open the mall while it was there, and for whatever reason they did want to call in professionals. (Why? couldnt? laws broken?! Why was sewage in the drain? why was it accessable? I dunno. Lotta questions.) So the mall manager told my buddy to get 5 friends down there NOW and he'd pay us 10 bucks an hour off the books. We had to sweep it , shovel it, bag it, and take pictures of it all bagged as proof to the authorities (EPA? I dunno). It was a shady situation from the start.
So, for 50 or 60 bucks cash, in my mid teens, I shoveled human sh!t. In the summer. Picture it, and it was a little worse than the image in your head.
Yikes.
I think the worst job is actually the guy who puts on a wetsuit, swims into the raw sewage (zero visibility) at the sewage treatment plant when any of the ducts in the gargantuan tank becomes clogged, and feels his way to the clogs and then attempts to dislodge them.

Not me, man! I'm not that brave! I'm also too old for that now...
But I have undying respect for those guys that are kicking down doors for nearly minimum wage....
A few unpleasant jobs I've had:
loading hay bales
CNA in nursing home
sorting recyclables from garbage by hand at a dump
dishwasher in restaurant
Right now I'm unemployed and I would jump at the chance to do any of these jobs since I've been busting my butt trying to find work for the last three weeks.

I've had some crappy jobs...
Worked in shipping and recieving for a retail mega-store unloading trucks. Summers where I lived we're humid and in the upper 80's but you're in a metal box oven when you're unloading a tractor-trailer. It would easily get beyond nasty for near minimum wage. Also was really cold in the winter just the opposite extreme. Also nasty.
I also worked for a huge greenhouse complex (each greenhouse something like 2 football fields long). in the summer the sun would beam down on you thru the glass and it's in the mid 90's and humid. That was worse and I did that for 2 years.

Hey, I really liked the Army. I would still be in if I hadn't been injured. I got out as a Captain and I heard a lot of enlisted guys say they didn't really like it, but my friends loved it and most are still in. Deployments are rough, especially for those with families, but I thought it was all a very positive, life-changing experience. Thanks to anyone who supports the Military, your support mean more to soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines than you can know.
I used to dress up in a giant pickle costume for mr.pickles sandwich shop in chico. I only waved and talked to good looking girls, and told all the Jr and high school kids to F off. i was really mean and just listened to offensive music the whole time.

I guess my poor attempt to both be funny, and point out that there are a lot more sucky things than dressing up like a hot dog. My fault - I shouldn't have posted it.
135 degree heat being sexually harassed trying to not sew a shoe to your hand for 20 cents an hour?
Working in a factory with tin panels for walls surrounded by a chain link fence and a guard making sure no one leaves. Being sexually harassed all day and powerless to do anything about it. You're not allowed to talk. 14 hours a day, every day out of the week. And if you get pregnant you either have to have an abortion or lose your job.

There was nothing wrong with it and you did make a great point.
I don't think people could tell if you were joking or serious though. But either way I think you were right.

yeah, remember this when you're paying $90 for the latest pair of Nike's. The trouble is no one cares enough to be bothered to care.
The worst job I had was in a metal forging factory. The heat was unbearable in the summer, there was so much REQUIRED overtime (which was OK for money, I guess). But the thing that killed me, I looked around at all the faces in this factory: Misery. Ruined lives. These men and women were making decent money, but they never got to enjoy it. Work 7 days a week, killing your body, so that when you are 70 you can live in Florida?! And probably live to be 72!
I can't do it. I know it's the case with almost all factory jobs, it's so sad.
This job also made me realize: Eh, now is not the time to have kids.I know that's the main reason those people worked there, and bless them for being so selfless and working their fingers to the bone for their families. I know that's what my dad did... I'm not ready to give up my life though.
Ha, it just hit me. I listed this as my "worst job" and it was stacked up against a job that required me to clean **** off naked mentally handicapped old men! LOL. Really though, at least that job had me helping people who needed help.
