Metallica / Danzig / Suicidal Tendencies - 1994ish, Ionia Fairgrounds, Ionia MI
I knew it was going to be a bad day when my boys got squeezed hard by the security guard frisking me. PA for the outdoor venue was underpowered and muddy. Suicidal was pretty good, but the crowd couldn't get into them. Danzig was in their decline and sounded horrible. Metallica tried, but the sound was off, the rain was a downer and the setlist was uninspired at a minimum.
Ministry - Dark Side of the Spoon tour
This was a "warm-up" show for their upcoming European tour and it wasn't even luke warm. By this time the band consisted of Al, the hacks he hired to fill in on RevCo stuff after all the good guys left and some of the ugliest gogo dancer ever. The local band hired to open for them dragged a bunch of strippers from the psuedo-topless bar next door and proceeded to bang out 45 minutes of garbage. Apparently they even got on Al's nerves because apparently he almost got on the bus and left - they finally came on stage maybe 90 minutes after the opening band stopped.
KMFDM - Angst tour
I had seen them on the Money tour and it was a pretty good show. Not this time... En Esch was still in the band at this point and I REALLY didn't need to see him on stage in a short kilt (and nothing else - of which he constantly reminded us by lifting it during every song). When they came on stage they started with "Light"... and proceeded to play the rest of the Nihil album in order. By "play", I mean the mics were live but everything else was fake-played to a DAT track. Even the damn drum-pad player was pulling a Milli Vanilli. Just freakin' awful.
Honorable Mention to Extreme on the Extreme III tour when Nuno snapped the neck on what apparently was his favorite guitar and then proceeded to pout for the rest of the show playing horribly.
