Here's a more recent one. I mean AC/DC has never been known for their outstanding music videos. The promos for Back in Black were nothing special but I would've rather have had them on a stage with amps than this. idk if David Mallet did this on purpose but whatever he did it was ridiculous.

Hey! The Let there be rock video is a classic! Bon is infamous for breaking his ankle when he jumps off the alter, plus it's hilarious that they're all dressed up as choir boys considering the kind of debauchery they indulged in.

It's funny as hell but you have to admit that Angus looks like he have some kind of mental issue. There is the Bon Scott side of the video an there is the Angus side

From time to time I cross path with awesome bands that happen to have some music videos that make me wonder... Why? Why would you do something so cheap?

I know producing a music video is neither cheap neither easy, and most bands just don't care about them, and that is perfectly fine but, if you have to do it, do it right! It's so easy to simply do a "live like" video...

And when talking about bad videos, the first one that comes to mind is Dio's Holy Diver but, you know what? The acting is terrible and also the customs and "effects" but you can tell they tried. I mean, yes, it's really bad, but it's lights years from stuff like this...



Man, I love Rush, but... ***? The 80's made a lot of demage, I can even understand the kimonos from the 70's but the flying Geddy Lee is hard to swallow.

So I wonder, can it get worst than that? Is there any video (from a relatevely big artist) worst than that one?

in retrospect the video is dumb, but like many things Rush, was quite topical when it came out. this video had big WOW factor to show what then new digital editing could do. to take these images and so cleanly manipulate them in this manner was quite amazing and not seen before. or at least not on the scale of exposure it got on mTV, which it got a lot of.

as tech does, it moved on quickly and what was once a stop you in your tracks fantastic feat soon became, meh...ive seen that already.

Rush is notorious for lousy videos. For a band that was always good at getting the sound right and putting on great live performances, videos are the one thing they were consistently bad at.

The only Rush video I think is a really good film is Subdivisions.

I'm not so sure, it is from the late 80's in fact 87. There was so much better stuff out there at the time. I'm not comparing budgets here but Thriller is from 82, 5 years pior Time Stand Still! although there is not digital magic in there
One year before that, on 86 you have Peter Gabriel's Sledgehammer... Again, different budgets but still.
You can also compare it with Bohemian rapsody from...75! they use the same kind of trick (minus green screen)

I know there a tendency on the 80's with the new maigc of digital (also in sound, drum machines and synthesizer), you can clearly see it in a lot of music videos. But that one from Rush, at least for me, looks specially cheap and ridiculous. It's specially funny due to the contrast with their music which is nothing like it. But agian, that is just my opinion
