Obviously you need to get rid of the neighbors. Two ideas come to mind. A) Murder them or B) Move.
Personally, I would go with option B. But that's just me.

Set the neighbor up for failure. Remove all sound sources (guitars, tv, radios, all of them...) from your apartment till the next complaint and demand the guard or whoever come into your apartment and see that the noise is not coming from and cannot have come from your apartment. Then tell them the next time will bring a civil complaint against them for harassment.
I'm living in NYC where everybody is in an apartment. And if I were supposed to give in every time someone decides to complain, I might just shoot myself right now and be done with it. Typical NY scenario: Someone with a chihuahua that barks all day when she is out of the house wants me to stop playing because "she is a lawyer and she needs to sleep" Well, I am a musician and I need to practice, and that is exactly as valid an argument.
You live in an apartment, there will be noise. There is always a way to work it out with each other, which is not the same as one individual deciding to make the rules for everybody. That goes for people who make noise and that goes for people who complain.
Set the neighbor up for failure. Remove all sound sources (guitars, tv, radios, all of them...) from your apartment till the next complaint and demand the guard or whoever come into your apartment and see that the noise is not coming from and cannot have come from your apartment. Explain that this has been a repeated complaint and you purposely took all of your instruments out to prove your point. Then tell them the next time will bring a civil complaint against them for harassment.
Better yet next time tell them to call the cops and let the cops see you have no sound sources in your apartment then you can tell them about the abuse you have been enduring and the cops will have a little talk with the neighbor...
Anybody have troubles with neighbours being too old? Or crazy?
My roommate and I are both bass players and we live on the top floor of an apartment building. We realize that our hobby is noisy so we are considerate enough to turn stuff off at a reasonable hour. Recently, this hasn't been good enough. Now, every time we come home, the guard tells us not to play after 10pm. This is fair. And we don't. You don't have to tell us that every single day.
Last night, a Saturday night, I stayed in due to enjoying Friday night too much. I was watching a movie on my laptop and dozing off. Just after 2am, I'm woken up by banging on the door. Thinking I dreamt it, I just sat there. Another bang. I open the door and there's the guard. "Are you playing guitar in there?" No, I say, I was sleeping. "Well, it's too loud. Don't play guitar after 10." I hadn't been playing at all. He said the neighbour complained about noise. I tried to politely tell him that I couldn't possibly be more quiet because I was asleep and I was getting pretty tired of defending myself every time I came home. He says we're too loud every day and we should just come home and go to bed. I swear, that's what he said.
2 weekends ago, this neighbour called the cops on us. But we didn't find out until two days after when we got home from vacation. I had a gig 2 hours out of town and my roommate came with. The venue put everybody up for the night and we had a great weekend with friends on a beach. We weren't even in the city and she's calling the cops for the noise.
These people are driving me nuts. What do I do?
Ways to Annoy Your Neighbors
- Call your neighbors repeatedly asking for a certain XYZ, even after they have yelled at you that no one by that name lives there. Keep in mind to use an unlisted number or a number they are not aware of.
I just wish I knew where the noise was coming from because it's not me. I did use headphones before but now I don't even play at home anymore. Time to move, I suppose.
