Seriously, how exactly are headphones going to solve anything when complaints are being made while the OP is sleeping or not even at home.

It provides proof the noise is coming from another apartment or the OP has Satan as a 3rd roomie.Seriously, how exactly are headphones going to solve anything when complaints are being made while the OP is sleeping or not even at home.

Just because the OP isn't making the noise doesn't mean the other person isn't hearing noise. He like you is assuming he knows who is making the noise. I am thinking apartment soundproofing is about a non-existent as it was when I lived in an apartment. We could hear the couple in the adding building with her moaning and calling to God like she was next door.Or a neighbor that has nothing better to do than to cause trouble
Same here except then my wife tells me to put on the headphones because I drown out her TV.I live alone in my own house. Closest neighbor is 150 yds away. I can play anytime with volume.![]()
Headphones WOULD have helped this guy in this case actually.
I filed a noise complaint once. The cop said that here (the Great White North), it didn't matter if it was late or not. I guess because some people work shifts, it doesn't matter when the noise is, just that it's noise. Wonder if it's the same elsewhere? I keep it low and still switch to headphones after 11 pm.
I would tell the guard that if he doesn't have a formal complaint, to do his job and not bother me again or I'll be reporting him for harassment. When you have a noise complaint against you (although luckily you weren't home and that's even more insane), the person filing the complaint has to appear in court. At least that's how it works in Kansas. That guard works for you. You pay rent there. I would complain to the management immediately. Absolutely ridiculous.
And people who are saying they don't want to hear other people practice. Get over yourselves. Last I checked this was a free country and as long as you're not breaking any laws, it's nobodies business how you practice.
Stop right there: the OP got the cops called on him when he was ON VACATION.
Under no circumstances would headphones have helped him there.
I didn't read the rest of your wall of text.
