Would a Yamaha B100 solid state 250W amp be worth 43$?

That's about my question.

Will an old Yamaha solid state B100 250W amp be worth the trouble for 43$?

I got an offer to buy one.

How do they sound?

Something tells me it is not the best amp, but at that price I guess it is hard to complain.

Are you sure it's 250W? What I found was a huge head (wider than a washing machine) and it only puts our 100W. If you have a use for it, I guess it's worth it. But at that size I think I wouldn't even take it for free. I guess the only thing to worry about with old solid state is bad capacitors.

I owned one in the past, it is only 100 Watts.
I loved the tone, very old school rock.
I found putting it threw a multiple speaker cab like a 2x15 or 4x10 will give it more gusto than a single cab.
I ran it through an old Peavey 2x15 and it cut through the mix just fine.

In 1979, I had the 115 combo as my first amp. It sounded good to me then, but I was a teenager with stars in my eyes. Except for a recording application, maybe, these days I would be dissatisfied with such a bass amp.

But it depends on your use case. Considering that you can spend several times that much on a pair of sneakers, I think the price is okay. Good luck!

• 250 watts is probably the max power it draws from the wall outlet while the amplifier is running at 100 watts.

They often print that on the back near the fuse or power cord inlet, but it might be located elsewhere.

Here ya go. Manual says it's a 100 watt amp and power consumption is 250 watts.
I tried to link to the manual but it didn't work.
Yamaha does have the manual available on their website.

Bass is a lined fretless Carvin LB76F in Koa. Amp into two JBL K120s in EV TL style cabinets. I still get a giggle watching this. We all had to go to work after the show!

Used it for guitar for several years and when I started playing bass again , it was the most powerful thing I had so I bought a 2 15 Peavey cab , disconnected the internal speaker and it got me through my first band on bass. I won't say it sounded great but it sure didn't sound bad.
