Would Low Electrical current cause Hartke5500 head to not be loud?

I was at a jam today, and it appeared my was underpowered (Not loud Cranked up.) We changed the power source, and it got louder but not enough to hear myself.

I play through a Hartke 410XL, so I am wondering since the circuit was probably over loaded, so would this cause the issue.

Or is my head not putting out 330Watts at 8 ohms?

Appreciate any responses.

toooo low voltage will kill amps .. !!!

check cables ... speaker cable ( non shielded ... ! )

otherwise ... protect your ears .. !

Thank you for the response. I actually have the 410 4.5 XL...and now it sounds that the 5 inch speaker is blown. I checked the dust cap, and everything was secure.

With this lower voltage blow that speaker....

Hi Jonathan.

Welcome to TalkBass.

Too low wall voltage will only increase the current draw in a properly designed amp.

That increased current draw will blow the input fuse prety fast.

I'd check the speaker cable as suggested, that's the most likely culprit if the sound is otherwise OK.

I thought the 410XL had a horn, not a 5", but usually either blowing won't make a significant difference in a MI cab.
A PA cab with a steeper cross-over is a different animal obviously.

Maybe it is a horn...I will run out and buy another speaker cable...appreciate all the input

Well, new cable it still crackles, only way to stop it is to turn down the High Contour level

Try cleaning the input jacks. I use a 22 cal. gun barrel brush on mine. Had the same problem with a 2 15 cab of mine and that cured it. If that's not it , there may be a bad solder joint somewhere in the cab.

It sounds like you could have blown the tweeter. I have a Peavey 410 with tweeter that was the same, the only way to stop it scratching/crackling was to turn the tweeter down. I replaced the tweeter and it is ok now.

Get a second opinion on yours because I haven't heard it so it could be something else.

Hum...OK. I'd be afraid of bits of wire breaking off and going inside my amp, but your amp isn't mine, is it.

Hmmm , never really thought about that. If it's a good brush , I don't think this would be much of a problem. It surely never caused me any problems and over the years I've used it on cabs , amps and a couple of guitars. If you are uncomfortable with the idea , don't do it.
