Would you buy a bass without side dots?

You know, I’ve been waiting for somebody to post something like this. First Warwick comes out with a Dolphin, and now a Rock Bass. What’s next, a Flounder? A super thin bass for those looking for lighter instruments

I’ve also been wondering what happens if you put GHS Bass Boomers on a Rock Bass?

I have one fretless Jazz bass (Warmoth) that is unlined with no front or side dot markers - completely plain fingerboard. As Zappa memorably said:
“A coupla quarts of beer
Would fix it so the intonation
Would not offend your ear”

First, visual markings on bass guitar are 100% NOT comparable to Double Bass. Completely different instruments.

Second, for all those bravados claiming supremacy over those with “training wheels,” I give you “training wheels.” Eat your hearts out.

I wouldn't mind no dots at all, but my '05 Ric 4003 FL has side dots and front dots in the wrong place. Larger side dots in the harmonic positions added by yours truly.

I think the glow in the dark dots are a great alternative to the expensive LED modification.

From experience, I can tell you that the glow-in-the-dark Luminlay dots fade after a relatively short time of not being in the light. I doubt the stick-on glow-in-the-dark dots would last any longer.

In my opinion, the fishing lure stickers I mentioned earlier in the thread are a better alternative.

I recently put together a fender P bass using a fender replacement neck. I decided to put a left handed neck on a right handed bass.

I never realised nor even considered that a neck wouldnt have dots on the underside!

When i play, i do try not to look at my fretboard, but i never realised how much i need side dots until they werent there! Played a dark stage last week and i was having a hard time without them

Hopped onto amazon and grabbed a stock of luminlay. Got them installed yesterday and they are perfect. Very very pleased.

Not sure how the fella above thinks theyre garbage. They seem to do exactly what they say.

If you're referring to my post, I didn't say they were garbage, I said they fade relatively quickly. When they're charged, they're great. When they fade, they're fairly useless.

I bought a bass without side dots back in 2010, my old Shaftesbury 3263. I must say I never even reflected on the lack of side dots until recently when someone on here complained about a bass without side dots. I realised there weren't any on my Shaftesbury, so I painted some. We'll see if I notice any difference...

My unlined Birdsong fretless has no side dots. A while back I stuck some temporary dots on but took them off again soon after as they annoyed me.

Don't need the side dots because there's no paycheck waiting for me beyond the money zone, and I can count to four.
