Would you cover a Lost Prophets song?

Hi Guys

Not sure if this should have gone in the 'Off Topic section' and sorry if it's been asked before (did a quick search and couldn't find anything)

I was a huge Lost Prophets fan had every album and always wanted to go see them live (had no money) but after the Child Abuse (that's putting it lightly) I lost any love I had for them. I was looking for bands that play in drop C and somebody mentioned Lost Prophets and it got me thinking, would anyone cover their stuff?

Then I started thinking does anyone cover the Gary Glitter stuff?

Would it be acceptable or would you lose the crowd?

Would it be ok to maybe change the lyrics or would the reception still be hostile if they recognise the tune?

Etc. etc. etc.

Part of me thinks the music will be forever tainted and another part thinks the song should have nothing to do with the man (I use this term lightly) if the music was good people should like it.....

My usual feeling would be that a piece of creative work stands on its own apart from the person who made it. Dostoevsky was a fairly horrid person but he wrote amazing books. There are lots of examples. But the Lost Prophets guy's crimes are over the top, and it's just too much of a hot potato. I wouldn't. Maybe it will be easier to detach in a future generation, if anyone is still interested in the music then. If Jack the Ripper had written music, it might be interesting to play it. But I wouldn't do it in 1888.

No. I don't like the music, regardless of what the singer did. But with what he did, there's no way in hell that I'd be caught dead even listening to their songs.
