would you gig this pedal?

I recently aquired a pristine green russian big muff. It looks brand new with the original box. all the knobs are there and even comes with the battery door. No crackly pots or anything. My band leader thinks its pretty much a museum piece and should only be used for practice or recording. That way it wont get messed up or stolen...

Its just so perfect I dont really want to risk messing it up. Our shows get rowdy kids who climb on stage or fall into me unplug my bass from falling into me. So I dont want to see it get stepped on or something. The swollen pickle gets really close to the green muff and its easier to find a replacement.

Keep it for recording and practice maybe. Thats what I'd do.

its not like it's an all original 50's fender guitar or anything. its a cool pedal, and its in nice shape. sure its got some collectors value, but 90% of that things value is to players, not collectors. maybe some people would be willing to pay an extra few bucks for the minty one, but its not something i'd not use just to keep clean for future generations.

gig the sucker.

I dont really need a loop pedal. In my band the fuzz is on for every song except one. That one song is a softer ballad type song so its ok if its alittle quieter when the muff is off. I probably will gig it but only at certain shows. Ones where the stage is higher so when the kids get knocked around they cant fall onto it.

In yr instance the loop would alleviate the need to stomp on the pedal to turn it on/off. This in theory would keep it in better shape.

**edit - I just re-read yr post and you seem to get that. On a side note:

It would drive me crazy to really dig the sound of a pedal(s) and not have it available to me. I just bought a relatively expensive multi knob filter that is not in production anymore and damn straight this thing will share the stage (okay, Floor) with me!

If you don't need to stomp on it why not just put in on top of your amp?
