would you gig this pedal?

Unless you find something in it that the Swollen Pickle absolutely can't do, I'd just use the pickle. From what it sounds like, the majority of your shows are high energy, and people run around on stage. I'd hate for some kid to get pushed over and end up kicking one of the knobs/bending a pot shaft, spill a drink on it, or even knocking something loose internally. As much as I love EHX, it seems that their old stuff was a bit suspect in the QC department in terms of components being reliably soldered to the board.

I suppose the deciding question is which is worth more to you, tone or peace of mind.

There's also the chance that someone will recognize it and try to make off with it. Happened at a show I went to in Cape when some kid tried stealing one of my g*itarist friends' vintage EHX Holy Grail.

Ill take it out but only to the shows where its safe. If anyone tried walking off with it they will regret it ha. A bass can make a great weapon. Another reason I only gig squiers. Then I have a good story... See that scratch right there? Yeah? Well that was from hitting a kid in the face who tried to walk off with my green big muff.

to be fair im going to say gig it and keep it in a loop.

its not likely to get nicked unless someone knows what they're looking at

That was going to be my suggestion. If you are that nervous about it, make a little case for it and leave two holes for the input and output. Leave the effect on the whole time, and just use a loop pedal to engage it

Do you plan to sell it at a later date for a profit?

Yes? put it away and don't gig it.
No? It has no more value than you paid for it - gig it and enjoy it.

Really, it does grate me a little when people buy things and don't touch them because they are worth XXX amount of money. Unless you're planning to sell it at a later date, it's current value is no more than you paid for it.
