Would you trade basses, in my shoes???

I currently use and enjoy using a Geddy Lee jazz bass with an audere preamp.

I have a guy that wants to trade me for a Stingray 5 HH. He says he cant get use to the 5 string and wants to trade for a nice 4.

Assuming all things are equal (condition/quality) what do you think you would do in this situation??

Any opinions would be appreciated...

well, is the Geddy Lee your only bass? You say you like it ...

I'd not trade the unknown for the known and favored unless I played the unknown and it was too nice to avoid (recognizing that the newness and novelty wears off quickly).

Music Mans are some of the highest quality mass production basses you can find. I've had a Geddy, and I've had an SR5 - that SR5 was one of the most solid, versatile basses I've owned.

If you like the sound, I'd go for it.

I'd keep the Geddy. I would say that the Fender-regret floating around here is lesser than the EBMM-regret. (Though there are plenty of reasons to love both.)

Every time I listen to Michael Jackson's 'Off the Wall', I think about getting a Music Man. But then I give it a second listen and decide: Oh. That's why I wouldn't use a Music Man.

I've had both.I would trade in a heartbeat.The MM is a higher quality bass than the Geddy IMHO.Also the H/H is amazing tone wise.

Since i idolize geddy lee i would not.

I do too but i still think i'd prefer the Stingray.

If you can play the mm5 first then consider it. If you like the MM5 then it is a more than even trade

If I like it I'll trade, if I don't I wont. That's all there is to it, I just wanted to see what the crowd reaction was. Whichever one I choose, it wont be my only axe for long... in the coming weeks I will be picking up a Ibanez SR506. Say what you may, I'm in love with it!

We are going to get together this afternoon (yikes... after midnight, have to play in church in the morning, must sleep) and make sure we are both comfortable with the trade. I'll post the results!!

P.S. I will be bringing my MarkBass CMD-102P so that I can really compare apples to apples.

Unless your particular Geddy is irreplaceable, I think I'd go for it.
IMHO It's an opportunity to try something new with very little monetary risk.
If you don't like the ray, are you free to sell it?
