Now you are beating up on another fave of mine, Aerosmith.

I've always loved the music of Aerosmith, and I've always loved the music of Zeppelin.
However, I no longer hero-worship the members of these bands, as quite a few of them were borderline pedos. In 1975, Steven Tyler convinced the parents of 14 year old groupie Julie Holcomb to sign over guardianship to him, so she could live with him. Don't get me started on Jimmy Page and Lori Maddox. It's why I always had a hard time listening to the song, "Sick Again" off of Physical Graffiti. It's not directly about Maddox, but it's the same thing. Back in the early 70s, our "heroes" were dating groupies that were very very young. A lot of big rock stars were misogynistic jerks, and I realize that was a different time, but there you have it.
As for the musical merits of Aerosmith, every album up to Draw the Line was pretty good. I can listen to any of them all the way through. Night in the Ruts was the first album they put out that had some really forgettable songs, and the next two, were terrible. Their comeback of Permanent Vacation followed by Pump were much more commercial and produced than their classics, but still pretty good. For me, everything after that is pretty much unlistenable.
As a lover of classic rock, and a guy who plays a lot of it, I long ago tried to separate the personalities from the artists. I can't always do it, but in most cases I can, at least to some degree. But the day I'm going to get all worked up about some bazillionaire rock star being slagged by some nobody are long over. Hate the Beatles. Hate the Stones. Hate Jimi Hendrix. Hate anyone you want to. Some of it is probably earned, but it won't change my opinion in the least.
I like what I like, man.

Julie Holcomb was sixteen, not living at her broken home, traveling to see Aerosmith.
Came to see the band and met Tyler backstage and never went back to her mothers home, ended up pregnant at sixteen so her mother turned her over to Tyler (27) who proposed marriage.
Not a good situation for Tyler to get involved with, she was sixteen and without a proper home situation to live in, which means it was her (almost adult) decision to follow Tyler.
A bad deal, but a little different than the Page/Maddox thing.
Page had a roadie bring Lori Maddox (who was fourteen and a popular groupie) to his hotel suite because he was infatuated with her.
Maddox was happy to be there, somehow her parents allowed that level of dangerous behavior on a regular basis.
Lori Maddox was hanging around with Sable Starr and was chasing rock stars full time, this was not an innocent child.
Pamela Des Barres, Queennie Glam, Nancy Spungen, Shray Mechum, Bebe Buell, Lori Maddox and Sable Starr were some of the more famous groupies swapping places spending time with with Iggy Pop, David Bowie, Led Zeppelin, New York Dolls, The Stones, Slade, Sex Pistols, Keith Moon, Marc Bolan, etc, etc.
Unfortunately, there will always be wayward girls and there will always be immature musicians who will take advantage of that situation.
