Wounded Paw Effects Pedal Never Received Through USPS - Need Advice

I want to first start off by saying this is not the fault of Wounded Paw Effects. I ordered the pedal requesting the shipping method with tracking and insurance as Wounded Paw states they are not responsible for lost packages that do not opt for that shipping method. Below is my account of the events that have taken place.

December 9th: I placed my order for an Attack Goat Bass Fuzz

December 16th: The pedal ships.

December 23rd: The pedal is marked as delivered to my apartment office, but I received no notice from the office as I typically do.

December 26th: I enquire about the package at the office. They have no record of receiving or signing for it. We check the receiving room as well as all of the parcel lockers. There is no package. I e-mail Preston at Wounded Paw and he states this happens every once in a while and to give it a day or 2 to show up.

December 27th: Office checks with postman, there is no recollection of the package. No sign of package.

December 29th: Started a missing mail ticket with USPS.

December 30th: Still no sign of the package. I follow up with Preston.

December 31st: Preston opens a ticket with Canada Post.

January 5th: Preston checks in with me to see if the pedal has arrived. He states Canada Post has not been very helpful as they suggest that I check the building (USPS only delivers to the office or parcel lockers) and ask around if anyone has seen it (already done). I confirm later in the day that I have not received it and all of the steps I have taken prior.

January 9th: No response from USPS. No word from Preston yet. Contacted USPS and found that my case had been closed without any contact. Reopened and escalated. Wrote a follow-up e-mail to Preston. Receive a reply from Preston. We both agree that if nothing turns up this week, a replacement will be shipped.

January 14th - Follow up with Preston to let him know that the pedal still did not arrive. He replies to let me know that a new one has been shipped.

January 17th - I receive the new pedal.

Police report???

Sometimes things get lost in the mail. Last year I lost a rather expensive package in the mail that was tracked and everything. It is never nice, but I don't blame the shipper. It is the carrier's fault.

If the pedal was insured, then make an insurance claim. I'm sure Preston will help with this. Over the holidays things might move a little more slowly.

I mention police report because it's something USPS asks about when you file a missing mail claim. I had no intention to file one as I feel it wouldn't accomplish anything more than what I'm already doing. And yes, it is the carrier's fault. This is why I made my first statement in the post as such so people do not think I am placing any blame on Wounded Paw.

Weird. Must be a USPS thing, police reports play no role in lost packages in Canada.

All I can think to add then is be sure to document as much as you can in terms of the "search" for the delivered pedal. Again, I've also had items marked delivered when they really weren't - I'm guessing a sticky fingered postman is the culprit - and while it can be a stubborn situation to deal with, things do resolve eventually.

Hopefully the Attack Goat comes soon. It is one of my favourite pedals, and has been a mainstay on my board for a long time. Best of luck with it all.

If it isn't a custom order, don't bother and just ask Wounded Paw to send you another one or get a refund.

The title of the thread is misleading and unfair to Wounded Paw (WP). It really is "Pedal never received through USPS".
Agreed. If WP (A pedal company I own no products of and am not affiliated with) did everything right, I would tend to think this is more of a USPS issue than a WP issue. People could get confused because even though the OP writes the caveat about it not being a WP problem, many people don't read all that carefully and could come away with an erroneous impression that WP and not USPS effed up. I'd change the title if I were the OP.

I don't disagree with changing the title. It was changed before you posted.

I've dealt with Preston many times and he has always been a very stand up guy. No complaints on my end. Preston, as the shipper may have to file a claim in the end though. Sounds like there is tracking evidence and somebody lost or pocketed the package on the USPS side of things.

You can file a paypal claim, however, honestly, I'd just ask for a replacement from Preston and have him handle the postal claim so he can get reimbursed.

Preston has been pretty good at communicating with me. I've just recently had a small lapse in communication, but I'm writing a follow up e-mail as we speak. I'm not sure that he filed the insurance claim yet versus opening a ticket with customer service, but I'll double check. I didn't see the point in filing the PayPal claim either.

I've had a lot of bad experiences with CanadaPost and USPS in the last couple of years. Everything from super delayed shipments, to crazy mail carriers, to packages that showed up as lost or delivered until it was "miraculously found" somewhere in a depot or truck after I had escalated my complaints.

When you think about it, it's surprising that it does not happen more often.

Domestically I order pedals all of the time and not one of them has been lost by USPS. By coincidence, this just happens to be the first one from Canada Post. I honestly think it got lost in the holiday commotion and had I ordered it this month, it probably would have arrived without incident.

I'm in Canada and Canada post lost something I bought from Best Buy. However it was never marked as Delive red. After waiting a good amount of time Best Buy just credited my account and presumably got their money back from Canada Post. Point being I think this is the vendors problem not yours as the receiver. Unless you specified a weird shipping company

I'm dealing with the same situation with a Future Impact from Pandamidi in Hungary. Hungarian Post shows the package went out but USPS has no record of it and confirms that it is not in customs. Pandamidi is very nice and responsive but their advice is to just wait. They also believe that USPS was slammed at Christmas and hasn't recovered yet. I don't fault them but I'm also not going to wait forever on a $400+ pedal.

Sorry to hear about that happening but no matter what the real events were that stopped the box from reaching you, it *should* be as simple as Preston opening a claim as the shipper, and he would be reimbursed and can send you another pedal.

At my last house we had a mysterious situation of "package that never appeared although it was marked delivered" - a month later, maybe more, we found out that a neighborhood girl that had been bullying my daughter saw the package on our doorstep and took it, dumping its contents in the woods. So you never know *** happens to stuff sometimes. We'd never had an issue in the area with carriers just leaving packages at the door.

The Future Impact is on my list as well. It seems that all of the pedals I want lately are imports. Some COG Effects pedals are on my list as well.

Just ask for a refund. As the recipient you have no power to make or receive an insurance claim. The shipper makes the claim and receives the settlement.

In regards to the Future Impact, all bets are off if something is stuck in customs. That can take up to a month depending on where it comes in.
