The website says its an Alder body with a walnut finish. How the heck did they do that?

It sure looks beautiful, but it don't know what you're asking here... It's not like they made the wood look like walnut, it's just a walnut-colored finish.

I have an alder bodied P-bass copy (parts bass) that I stained walnut...has a black/white/black PG, too...looks killer
(haven't seen it in 6.5 years )...

I heard Sdowsky is like the ultimate bass.

To me, those knobs look cheesy and the neck profile reminds me of an SX bass.

Why can't they at least put titanium knobs on these basses?

Correction - not profile - but headstock.

AND please do not confuse cosmetic choice with superior performance, the latter being the reason why many members here hold Sadowsky in high regard.

Besides - Titanium knobs would adversely affect the tone of the instrument

Did you just use a regular off-the-shelf stain?

Visit www.reranch.com, Invalid Link Removed & www.stewmac.com. I believe Fender sealed their alder bodies & sprayed a translucent walnut color(not sure if was technically a stain or what)over that.
