Wow! This is the worst upgrade I've seen

Went on vacation this week, came back to new website, did I enter a parallel universe?

Don't mind the new desgin though reminds me of other fourms and a bit of reddit...

Also the anonymous user post thing may promote some unfun threads.

Jaco only needed the old Talkbass…

Seriously though, a tip o’ the hat to the sysads who completed the changeover in one day! With the amount of material on this site, that’s no small feat. I look forward to watching it progress, as I simultaneously learn my way around the new user interface.

One feature I’ll request for return is showing the join date and the stats along with users’ names and avatars.

Only forward!

Blah. I really don’t like to be negative about this kind of thing.. I’m sure the TB team put a lot of heart and thought into this, but …

Has anyone else just been completely unable to take an interest in talkbass since the change ? I’m not having errors or anything, I just open the site, look at the first page, and nothing looks like anything. It’s just a wall of text.

Like not only do I specifically detest the move towards a ‘hot now’ feed agnostic to the individual forums, but stylistically I just can’t sink my teeth into it. My brain has no interest in staying on the site and sifting through any of it.

Yes. In the interest of constructive criticism, that accurately describes my experience with the new format. A little too busy and something hard to articulate increasing the cognitive load required to interact with it.

To exaggerate some, it's like the difference between reading National Geographic and Newsweek in the doctor's waiting room. Pick up and peruse a Newsweek (as spoken by someone who hasn't exactly done this recently) and you might pick up some current event knowledge. Pick up a Nat Geo and I'm like, yeah, pretty, glossy, whatever.

Come to think of it, classic TalkBass felt similar to what picking up a Reader's Digest used to (which is to say good).
