Damn. I've read a lot of his work over the years...always an original take on things.
'Repent Harlequin' I'd rank as one of the greatest stories ever.

I have his book of his short stories titled "Deathbird Stories" (the title says a lot about Ellison) and have read many of his novels. A fine writer, and one who influenced many others.

I read his Hugo award winning novella, “A Boy and His Dog” when I was in middle school. It was really well written, but incredibly sexist by today’s standards. As NPR noted, he was an early supporter of the late, great, female African American science fiction writer, Octavia Butler. As athletes might say, game respected game.
