Wrong board, nevermind!

...has been getting very bad lately. I don't know how in the WORLD Les Claypool manages to keep his bass this low, while keeping the neck horizontal, while playing four finger per fret, while sliding around playing 3 string chords. I can hardly do that sitting down for more than 60 seconds! I 'm clearly doing something wrong. I think I might as well just adopt the thumb over technique and switch back when I need to. Songs like Peace Sells by Megadeth absolutely murder my hand. Plus, I'm a hard player who plays at the bridge. Is there some special direction to your thumb on the back of the neck by any chance? I usually end up having it face diagonal, is it supposed to be straight up or something? Might upload a video for analysis.

EDIT: Damn. Could have swore I was just in the Technique board...

there's never any rule to it really.the size of your hand, grip, your hand/finger musculature....everything plays a role....some people preffer 'C' shaped neck, some preffer thinner, some wider....Claypool has LONG fingers btw,as far as i can tell, plus he used to be a drummer(a very good one that is),and finally,he plays that Carl Thompson 8,000 bucks MONSTROCITY of a bass guitar...
you need to find your own spot, that works for you,and your own hand positioning.one thing that i know for sure, your hand should always be relaxed, not 'cramped',and everything else will come naturally..
